Resonators?
I recently got rid of my Z and bought G. and Someone put an awful ebay exhaust on it. So I thought I'd try something a little more original since I'm pressed for cash. I'm getting my friend to weld me up a true dual exhaust starting at with the Y pipe all the way out with 3" stainless steel piping.
My idea: bump the muffler. I would like to just throw a resonator in each pipe, and call it beautiful. Does anyone have any suggestions for a god sounding resonator? I'm sure someone has tried this before. Is it smooth loud or stupid loud?

Well not in the next year at least... but hopefully eventually. What would you suggest then? 2.5?
I ran 3 after the cats on my z with a Greddy Tic fart cannon and it could do 160 like it was a walk in the park?

I can offer what I think it will sound like.It will be raspy with a snarl.
So guys like this.It will not have much if any bass tone.On the diameter,
there is more to designing a exhaust system then welding some pipes together.
A good exhaust system is exactly that,a system. There has to be some back pressure
factored in to properly extract.3" is too large unless you are FI.As I said some
degree of back pressure is necessary. For example the old 40hp VW beetle had pea shooter type exhausts. If you went with larger outlets to improve the sound you lost power. If you don't mind a loud almost European sound to your exhaust,go for your plan with a smaller diameter pipes. One of the best sounding exhausts I had in any car
I owned was similar to your plan.Had a 62' Jag E-TYPE.Stock is two muffllers under the
car with two motorcycle type resonators in the rear.I replaced the mufflers with
long resonators that would fit the space.Fabricated dual pipes to the rear axle with a
bend at an angled to the rear.Attached two bell end scavenger pipes angled up together in the middle right under the bumper.Great burble at idle.Wicked sound began at about
2500revs.At highway cruising speed there was just a great noise at the back.
WOT,itwould crack the windshield of the car behind you.
A resonator is a resonator. You go for what fits.
Go FOR IT!

Ready posts from Hydrazine , lots of great exhaust info. BTW from his findings, the tubing cant be big enough after the Y pipe, and the Y pipe is key for power.
