Default Intake question - pop charger + stillen

Hey there guys! I don't normally like to start new threads on here, but I have looked around trying to find the answer to my question but I have had no luck on my exact answer. So the question is, would it be possible to use the Stillen air box with the JWT pop charger? (Size and fitment and performance gains) I have a 2003 Performance model just by the way. Thanks!

Not too sure about fitment but as with most intakes for this car you probably wont see any gains.

No point, doubt either one is better than the other.

I'm currently using this setup and the short answer to your question is yes, they can be used together.

The long answer is as follows: The popcharger is really just 3 pieces... filter, venturi, and heatshield. The Stillen airbox setup is those 3 same pieces. My car came with a popcharger on it when I purchased it. I liked the intake, but didn't like the configuration of the heatshield. It really isn't much of a heatshield at all... better than nothing I'm sure, but too little of an effective barrier. I bought a used Stillen airbox intake and ended up using pieces from both, not that it really makes much difference other than the heatshield. I used the filter from the JWT, only because it has the open end. Slightly more filter area than the closed end Stillen filter element. I used the venturi ring from the Stillen intake, only because it's a bit thicker, and thus the curve of the horn is more gradual because of it. And obviously I used the heatshield (airbox) from the Stillen. By no means is it an airtight box, but I'm fairly certain that a 3 sided heatshield would isolate better than a 1 sided heatshield.

At the end of the day, the difference is probably negligible. Cosmetically, I think the Stillen looks cleaner and more "factory." Whether it's placebo effect or not, it makes me feel better to pick parts, or combinations thereof, that at least in theory should perform best at their intended application. If you have the JWT, I believe if you come across a Stillen airbox cheap, it's worth it. Not worth it to buy both setups new for full price. If you have none yet, buy the JWT if budget is the #1 concern. If you can justify the extra $120 or so, buy the Stillen airbox setup and don't look back.

Hey..Possible..anything is possible..But personally I wouldn't. Would be better off just finding a heat shield(if it is lost or something) As far as fitment..>The reason I wouldnt is because there is a arm coming off the intake to the frame that acts like a brace so that could possibly mess with fitment..As far as performance gains...They are usually minimal with untuned intake mods. Not sure if restricting airflow would garner power gains. Just my .02 Hope that helps.. I love the sound of my pop charger....no need to contain it. hehe

if you could find a way to get the stillen airbox to fit with the filter.. it'd be much more effective than the sh1tty heat shield that comes with the popchargers.

yeah I can see where you guys are coming from, yeah my only concern with the pop charger would be the heat soak from the "heat shield" it comes with. But I also was reading that the pop charger filter and ring accelerates the air a little better than the stillen intake system. I was planning on buying the pop charger intake system and then buy the stillen air box itself and use that instead of the heat shield.

How is it sh1tty, when watching my AIT I pull air 7 to 9 degrees warmer that ambient, the same as OEM or CAI.

WHY?
No diff in performance that you can feel.
Cosmetically,its your call.
As been posted before, the only true control of
ambient temp is to place the filter OUTSIDE of the
the engine compartment.Even at that, the results
would not be that great.
