Default XYZ customed to dual exhaust

just purchased an XYZ art pipes combo. i kno every one loves the tdx/shockwave exhaust but i like the way the HKS exhaust looks better. is there any way to pair the XYZ pipe convert it to an X pipe with the module from the TDX system that clamps with the V-clamp with the HKS mufflers and pipes... i dont want to get rid of my xyz pipe for a h pipe that comes with the system i just would like to know if it would work and if its been done does it sound like crap or is it decent.

I would buy an ebay replica and start cutting to see if you can make it work.

You could totally make it work, but I am almost 100% sure you will end up cutting out 2 of the resonators to make it work

Cut the two resonators. Weld a one inlet to two outlet muffler on. Bolt everything up and call it a day.

I've looked into this before and emailed Tony a couple times to get his input. It can be done with cutting/welding of the hks exhaust and adding 2 into 1 type muffler like Itzcashew mentioned. From what I gathered from Tony however, it's not really worth it for a few reasons. Mainly because the motordyne system is actually a system lol. It's designed around the xyz pipe with progressive pipe diameter changes. The hks is even diameter throughout. You'd be creating a large choke point close to the manifold/headers that wouldn't be beneficial. You'd definitely have to cut out the hks h-pipe and two resonators, which is a good idea regardless because they're both pieces of crap. You should either sell the motordyne pieces and use the money for whatever you will; or scrap/sell the hks exhaust and purchase the rest of a full motordyne system.

A choke point is definatly a big no no lol. I guess its either go full HKS or full MD . I havent yet to buy the HKS but i am about half way with the MD setup and i dont want to rid of them. I guess i might as well go with whats proven then experiment and end up sacrficing preformance. But thanks for your input im glad im not the only one Thats looked into this lol

I see where you are going with liking motordyne but wanting the muffler section of an HKS to hopefully quiet it down, the loudness of the motordyne exhaust was always a turn off for me personally...

As for choking the exhaust with the diameter changes, I am not sure how much it will matter in the end, you could seriously eliminate the entire replica exhaust except for the 2 rear muffler sections, and run a 3 inch pipe off the xyz and run a Y that branches off before the diff, pretty much the same thing motordyne did, but you would probably save $6-800 and possibly have a quieter exhaust!

I will tell you this, I kept the rear sections very clean (actually got under the car every weekend and washed them) and it stayed very pretty except for the tips eventually kinda turned to crap

Yes plus i have the xyz pipe resonated as well i was thinkin about the 3" y pipe because i go from art to xyz which is 2.25 -2.5 then 2.5-3" and if i did go replica i would def change those tips out and wouldnt need the piping just the mufflers

so i bit the bullet did a little experimenting.. purchased the m2 performance dual exhaust(megan sister company) aka hks rep... swapped out the agency power single and customized a magnaflow tranisition y pipe.... hooked this bad boy up with with my xyz resonated / art pipe set up and sounds amazing..got some low end torque back and smoother ride not so bad on the drone since the xyz is resonated... going to attempt a bumper tuck on the nismo bumper and then ill put up a clip n some pix...ps classy i didnt realize it till i looked at the bigger picture but i did use the MD shockwave concept no chocking points either as mentioned being a possibility ..
