Default A little too loud...

Hey guys, So I just had a custom exhaust built on monday, True dual 2.5'' pipe with a Magnaflow dual in dual out muffler in the middle, And it sounded great! I installed my Berk test pipes last night and wow, So frickin loud and way to obnoxious! I like loud and aggressive exhaust, But Dayumm:/

My question to you all is... Im thinking about putting in RESONATED test pipes now to tone in down some, How much difference would it make you think? The reason I dont want to go with cats or HI-Flow cats is because I have a WOT box with has a 2 step launch control, These have been known to blow out the cats. So I cant really work with cats unfortunately, But I would like to tone it down. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks!!

btw, i do realize there are a million and one threads on exhaust/test pipes/Cats. Ive done my research. I just needed some more specific answers to my question. Thanks!!

I was thinking about the ARTs, But I feel like they would still be to loud?? Are they quieter than HFC's or about the same?

Hfc should be alittle more quite than the right resonated test pipes I believe.

I personally welded in glasspacks for my exhaust and it quieted it down some. Resonated test pipes won't really quiet it down much.

This would work, or you could get "resonators" and weld them in, it will help with the sound. I know Z1Motorsports has some resonators on the interwebs. you could try those out.

Your local muffler shop should have them as well.

Thanks for all good info!! Im Thinking about ART pipes. I heard they are almost as quite as stock cats at idle and low rev but then open up when you put your foot in.. can anyone confirm if ARTs are any quieter than HFC's at normal to easy driving? I just don't want to spend the money on them and still have a SUPER obnoxious exhaust. I love it loud when getting down!! but this set up wakes the whole town even when im babying her!! (Cops are going to be on my *** because i cant even slip by easy :/ ) I will post a vid this weekend if anyone is interested.

yeah, that is a sweet photo. Did you photoshop that or did you actually enjoy your car in the snow?

I believe it was on Versiontwo, not sure . all I know is i saw it and saved the pic to my phone immediately
Looking at your exhaust now its gonna be loud no matter if you stay with Test pipes, ART pipes or HFC. your set up is basically straight pipes with a little muffler haha.
You could get your exhaust shop to put a resonator 3-4 feet behind your muffler on each side that should quiet it down some .

AH, ya my buddy Jordan Donnelly is part of that crew. Awesome!

YA, I love my set up, IT was super mean and had a great tone with stock cats. Im just trying to get some of that tone back. Putting in resonators 12" past the Muffler was another plan of mine. I might just go back to that Idea and weld some in.

I like how this thread devolved into Check Out My Whip!

I can see why it's too loud. You only have one muffler...most exhaust systems I've seen have a big resonator and a muffler. What you want are are some bullet style mufflers welded into the straightest section you have in the rear somewhere. Magnaflow, Vibrant, Dynomax, Borla, etc. Any name brand 4" diameter round muffler will help a ton. The longer the better. Or you could just look into resonators, but they tone down rasp more than volume.
