Nismo Exhaust -- Rattle Problems?
I searched previous posts on problems with Nismo exhausts and I can't seem to find anything except a post on rattles. I am thinking of getting a Nismo Exhaust mainly for looks and better sound (but not too loud) than stock. However, I am wondering if a lot of people have rattle problems with Nismos. I am very busy at work, so having to keep bringing the car to the shop to fix rattle problems would be a hazzle.
Also, do you really need the shim for the cross member or does it bolt right on? I am planning to order them from my local dealer and have them do the install. However, I doubt if the dealer would add shims to the cross member or anything like that to prevent rattle; most probably they would just bolt the exhaust on. I live near a good, reputable Z shop here in Northern California (Silicon Valley). However, I read somewhere that the Nissan warranty only applies to dealer installed Nismos, so I may have to take the risk and go with a local dealer.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share with me.

I just installed the NISMO exhaust today. I had plenty of clearance attaching it to the stock cats. It was the easiest exhaust I've ever installed.
I also have the RT cats, but am still waiting for the bolts before adding them. I made some measurements comparing them to the stock cats, and they seem like they'll make the exhaust sit a few mm lower, hence the need for the shims for the cross brace.
BTW, I really love the new sound and according to my G-Tech, 7.8 rwhp!!!

Me and My dad (DevilDogg) Installed the Borla Dual exhaust in to his Z and he also had the rattle problem. We shimmed it up and was fine. The Borla with the High Flow cats make it sound... Sweet. Almost like a racecar.
