I don't think you got what I was saying. The grit was downstream (after) the K&N filters, in the plenum and throttle bodies. What do you think that grit dies to piston rings, valve guides, etc?

Nothing wrong with the OEM HR intake. I routinely use NAPA Gold air filters in my '08, and the intake is squeaky-clean at 52K.
NAPA Gold filters for the win. I use their oil filters too (they are made by WIX)

So if his intake is full of grit, the filter didnt do its job correctly, right?
