Default secondary 02 sensor stripped

I took my 02 sensor out of my cat to put in my test pipes. Drivers side was stripped when I got it out. Can I just put a bolt in the whole since I'll set a code regardless or should I buy a new 02 sensor? All the secondarys do is monitor cat correct? All A/F readings are done by primary o2?

Yes but I will get a cel regardless since I have no cats to monitor. How do you guys feel about the idea of fixing the threads on the o2 sensor with a 18mm rethreading die? the sensor has 9,000 miles on it and theyre like $150. I dont want to toss it just cuz the threads are messed up.

you can try to fix the threads. i have test pipes and i just got special bung adapters that will eliminate the CEL problem and you can still keep your o2 sensors.

was not aware you have a HR, although i have not heard of that. I have had mine on my revup 06 for a little over a month no problem no CEL ever.

here are some that are cheaper, you will need two obviously. their pretty inexpensive so its worth a try.

Thanks. I will check rock auto. Do those help if my TP's already have the bung on like a 3inch pipe to move it away from exhaust stream?

Not sure on that, the tuning experts may know more about that. I know the hole is the bung adapters is smaller than the hole in the bung on my test pipes. Maybe distance/ smaller hole are both ways to compensate for the sensor.

Seymour4 may have more info about that for you he is an excellent tuning guy

Your car doesn't need the rear O2's to function, if you get an Uprev tune we can just delete those sensors completely and then you won't have any codes... and your car will run much better. Or you can replace the sensor and still have the code. Sometimes spacing it away on the entended bung keeps the CEL off, but not always.

Either way an Uprev tune will do a lot for performance now that you've deleted the cats. Don't even need to get on a dyno, feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions-

Does anyone here have an HR with test pipes using these spacers with no cels?

Edit: i got an 18mmx1.5 oil pan drain plug to plug the hole temporarily. Ordered a 18mmx1.5 die to try to fix the oxygen sensors threads should be here next week. As for Uprev... I plan on going this route but have some other things I need to buy first which I honestly should have gotten before anything, which is a radar detector.

My HR runs with test pipes, and the passenger's O2 sensor stripped as well when I tried to remove from the OEM cats. Probably some idiot factory installer cross threaded the O2 sensor when installed the 350Z.

Your best option is to buy one of these aftermarket O2 sensor and try to splice into your OEM O2 sensor wired plug. That is what I did. It works just as good as the OEM O2 sensor when do correctly. But make sure you buy the four wired O2 sensor, because the HR has 4 wired.

If you are lucky, try to hunt for the 07-08 HR O2 sensor.

Either way, your HR needs a tune. Hope it helps. Good Luck.

Thanks man.

Edit: in case anyone found this while searching or just wants some closure, I fixed my problem. Some oxygen sensors are cross threaded from factory and upon removal the cats threads and oxygen sensor threads will be ruined. I bought a 18mmx1.5 oxygen sensor chaser to fix the threads on the cat(in case I choose to sell them). I put an 18mmx1.5 bolt (they should have as a oil drain plug size at any auto parts store) in my test pipe ( could do same for cat) to plug the hole temporarily (its obnoxiously loud with that big of an exhaust leak). I had to temporarilly plug the hole while I waited for an 18mmx1.5 die to fix the oxygen sensor threads to come in the mail. I ordered it from amazon for like $15 including shipping. Put the sensor back in and cleared the code for free by borrowing a scan tool from advanced auto parts. A total of about $30 for the fix. A replacement oxygen sensor is $220 from the factory and $110 from advanced auto parts.
