Default Borla catback help

I bought a dual cat back borla exhaust (used) and when I got it the h pipe had been welded and whoever done it did a terrible job. Leaks everywhere and its covered in weld and is a huge mess. Just wondering if I was to run straight pipe back to the resonators instead of there being a h pipe would there be any difference? Not sure if this has been asked before but searched and couldn't find anything. Thanks.

The Borla H-pipe is notoriously weak in the middle and prone to leaks. Typical fixes are welding (had it done to mine), and replacing with a Magnaflow X pipe or similar.

Don't do straight pipes -- an H or X design should promote better scavenging. Magnaflow X pipe shouldn't cost much if any more than having a muffler shop weld up some straight pipes.
