Question Exhaust changes coming up in 2 weeks....

Looking at changing the Y-Pipe and going with High Flow Cats but keeping the stock mufflers for the time being as I am not looking for noise as much as a performance gain.

Anyone done this combination without changing from stock headers/mufflers?

What's the word on this?

Thanks guys and gals

Well, I currently have the Japtrix Y-Pipe and B-Pipe connected to the stock muffler. Stock CATS for now. Noise is not much different from stock. A bit more gutteral from 4K on. Performance wise, easier rev from 4K on and a .1-.2 sec off 1/4 mile time, based on my experience.

It can be done. I know someone that has stock headers, hi flo cats, a y pipe and stock exhaust.

Thanks for the info... I know it can be done, it's all stock bolt up.

As I am not looking for the noise, and the performance it's nice to know that I don't get too much more noise, and there is a performance improvement.

Anything that breathes better (I've already got the K&N typhoon after the JWT Popcharger) has got to be better, but it's always good to know what to expect before hand.

I should be doing that in about 2 weeks, after my springs/tires upgrade. Any of you guys have any input on springs and/or/with/without coil overs?

thanks again,

Joe

Joe,

I have the NISMO S-Tune Suspension. I can't comment on the other set ups, but I can tell you that my set up really made the car that much more enjoyable to drive . Ride stiffness is slightly more pronounced than stock on certain road surfaces.

How often do you "track" or "push" your car where you know what you're getting between the stock suspension on a 350z track edition to what you have now?

I also have VDC, and it appears that s-tune equipment won't work with that combination, right?

From your tagline, you're going to the same y-pipe and cats I'm interested in. Let me/us know when you do that, in the event you do that before I do it'd be nice to know how that goes, although you are also changing your headers so don't know how well that will relate to my expectations.

ANS: I did 2 runs in the hills of Tantalus, near where I live. One with the stock set up, the other with S-Tune. The car did not push as much in the corners. Less lean as well. It feels planted and stable.

ANS: Nope. I have VDC. No problem here. You'll find a few members with S-Tune and VDC who tracked their cars without problem as well.

ANS: Will keep you updated.
