Question Noob question about air intakes. . .

Hi, I just bought a 2008 350Z Touring and I was thinking about swapping out the stock air intakes for after market ones.

2 QUESTION:

1) What air intakes would you recommend at around $200-$250 range? I found these (below) on ebay, but I am in the dark when it comes to this kind of stuff.

OR

2) Should I keep it stock and just change out the air filters. It seems people who recommend this option go with the reusable K&N filters.

^ I'd stick with an enclosed airbox design. (OEM, Stillen, etc)

Stock with the stock filters works best - cool air and filters that actually keep grit out of your intake (which K&N's absolutely don't do). OEM, Purolator Pure One, and NAPA Gold are all very good, just to name a few.

I'm new to the HR world. Why are you guys suggesting stock boxes for the HR?

Same reason people recommend the revup airbox and a drop in filter for the 03-06 Zs!

Because the stock intakes work as well, or better, than anything else available. Keep the paper filters, too, if you actually want clean air in your engine. If you want something which looks and/or sounds different, that's what you'll get with aftermarket parts, but no improved performance, and surely worse filtering.

Thanks, Gents. It does seem that way, however, my ex had an 07 some time back, and I did the JWT intake on it and supposedly picked up about 16rwhp/13rwtq. Dyno-proven, if you will:

No tuning software at all. I believe it was same day, even if it was next day, we have to consider that ambient changes may affect a few HP/TQ, but this many?

Okay, now I'm confused. Aftermarket or stock? I'm only interested in performance increase and not really interested in a sound change.
