Default help with stune gaskets!!

so i just picked up a stune and i ordered a new set of stune gaskets along with bolts.

i noticed the gasket material being soft with thin metal on both sides almost aluminum foil like.

so as i was unbolting the mid pipe the original gasket crumbled and tore..

so how can i remove this!? looks like some of the foil type material is still on the y and mid pipe.. should i sand it off?

also since i ordered the same exact gasket kit is there something better i could use? to me this stune gasket kit seems like a waste of gasket the oem gaskets i had wouldnt peel off like this crap of a gasket did.

Are you absolutely sure that your oem exhaust was never swapped out before? Because the oem gaskets are multi-layered like this

and can be re-used.

What you're describing sounds more like what happens when cheaper gaskets like this

age and wear; they do fall apart and stick to the flange surface when removed.

Yes, you should sand off any excess gasket material before installing new ones.

the multi layer is what i had from my oem system which i retained the gaskets for.

but the nismo exhaust i picked up we took it off in one peace... i ordered the gaskets online which state original stune gasket...which you posted on the secound picture...which is exacly the same that came off the stune i just picked up.

so basicly the stune gaskets are crap...and i should look at getting a multi layer gasket....maybe ill reuse my oem multi layer gasket for the y...as for the midpipe im stuck with the kit i ordered. part # 20690-rsz35

I think it is very strange that Nismo would pick that waffled gasket material..

But yeah I would re-use the multi-layered ones when possible then the others as you stated.. As long as everything is torqued down you'll be perfectly fine.

I replaced all my S-Tune gaskets with new ones from Vibrant - sorry I don't recall the part numbers.
