Talking Kinetix V+ INSTALL HELP!!!

Does anybody have a DIY on the kinetix install for the intake plenum? I plan on using RTV.

Why use RTV? The instructions don't call for it. Only threadlock on the plenum screws.

Just use the cork gaskets that came with it.
Step 0 disconnect battery
Step 1 take off intake and tb
Step 2 take off vacuum hoses on Im
Step 3 use hex wrench too take off im
Step 4 marvel at how heavy that sucker it is, and it's funny shape
Step 5 put on im and attach hoses
Step 6 put on tb and intake
Step 7 hook battery back up
Step 8 start it, do idle relearn and what not
Step 9 enjoy top end powerband

Should take like an hour, also consider throwing in spark plugs while the Im is off

I wonder if mine was a different version then. I really don't remember seeing the RTV recommendation in my instructions. I know that was my first mod so I did it pretty carefully. I think we got our about the same time too, didn't we?

Got a great deal on it used off eBay. I don't plan on boosting it so I believe RTv will be sufficient. This is first mod I'm doing to the Z. I've already replaced oil pan gasket with just rtv. Should I replace sparks? I've always gone by if it's not broke don't fix it. My z is my DD and I drive the hell of out it everyday. By far my most favorite car ever. I'm not really a HP freak either.. This will probably be the only mechanical mod I will do.

I used the cork with a vortech sc and didn't have issues...but I only had it on for about 2 months.

I said the spark plug thing just cause your there and it's super easy while the Im is off. But if they don't need to be replaced don't, if your close to change time, why not? Good time to inspect the rubber grommets on them too.

I got mine in 2011 ish? It's been on for awhile. Someone cracked the original... Don't ask, so I sold the spacer, lower plenum, that person gave me 100$ so it was half way there. At the time there wasn't any third party dynos, other than boosted. Everyone lamented on how it was garbage. But if it makes power boosted it'll make it na...so I got it, and love that I can keep on revving.. I wish I had a revup though then I'd throw some cams in a bam!

But op while your under the hood you should throw a catch can on, just do the homemade one and look at all the crud you'll keep out of the engine. What crud? Open up your old Intake manifold and you'll see!

It'll go on the closest one before the blocked off port. If you need pics I can grab some of it on my car.

Hey I messed up, I thought you said you had the velocity manifold, the v + you just take off your upper plenum. It's the 6 bolts on the top and the bolts on the outside of it. Just look at a spacer install and it's the same. You just put the plenum on top

yeah i wish i was installing the velocity... sorry not trying to be needy but has anyone done a spacer install? with pics?
i just really dont wanna F*#$ anything up..especially since this is realistically first mod im doing..
also another quick question.. does anyone else run 10w30 in their car.. ive always ran 5w30 in mine.. i saw back and fourth from part syn-full syn since i have 140,000 miles and i dont want any leaks and i know syntheic causes leaks sometimes.. since i live in alabama and my oil pressure sometimes runs pretty low sometimes.. Think im gonna run 10w30 valvoline durablend semi sythetic when i change my oil.

There's the spacer install.

And I live in nm and I run 10w30 in the hot months, 5w30 in the cold and never have issues.

Yeah, we're fine. Plus i'm sure we would have seen large bold font on the front page. hehe. I don't think you'd be hurting anything OP, if you used RTV silicone. That stuff is pretty tough & being on top of the engine, I don't think it'll see any temperatures that would even come close to affecting it.

Either seal em up with rtv or head down to autozone/homedepot and get longer ones. Make sure to transplant the rubber grommets. Are the stock ones not long enough?

Well since you bought it used, the kit normally comes with 6 smaller bolts to replace the huge ones you wouldn't need. Look at the link for the manual again, and go to Home Depot/lowes and find threads that'll match.

And to touch on your thread that got closed about having the V+ and a spacer...I'm currently running the V+ and 1/2" spacer, but it came at a cost. I've got 3 washers on the hood mounting posts, and had to cut out some of the the hood skeleton. And I still need to cut a little more as it is still touching in a few areas. But the link that got posted on your closed thread about the V+ flexing is totally true. I'm about to swap mine through kinetix for a new one since mine was already stress fracturing around some of the bolt holes before I put it on top of the spacer. But with my retune I just had done, I gained 12hp and 13tq just by going from (oem plenum + 1/2") to (V+ + 1/2").
