Default Magnaflow x-pipe with hks rep

I know there are tons of threads about this combination, but I couldn't find an answer to my question.

Definitely getting flamed for this thread or for even using a replica, but I don't have a money tree in the backyard.

Anyways, the question is I found a decently priced HKS rep on eBay from a seller with over 200k ratings with a really good return policy. They state the piping is 2.275" and 4.5" tip.

I'm also purchasing a Magnaflow x-pipe while I'm at it, but they only have 2.25 and 2.5" x-pipes.

My question is, will it be fine to use a 2.25" x-pipe if the exhaust piping is 2.275"? This may be common sense, but I just want to make sure everything will work before I purchase anything.

Thanks!

The real HKS exhaust is 2.25" every replica I've read about is 2.5" including mine and another local members.

Oh..but will there be any negative effect fitting the 2.275" piping to a 2.25" magnaflow x-pipe?

No. Most exhaust shops have a machine that's powered by hydraulics that'll stretch the magnaflow inlets/outlets to fit over the replica.

Oh okay, I was just worried about negative effects of having the exhaust flow from a larger diameter to a smaller and back to a larger diameter.

That is an extremely negligible difference.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't much of a difference and any negative effects would be negligible. Just wanted confirmation from others. Thanks!

Ok, so the exhaust got here today and overall the quality looks good to me. The welds look solid, but I don't know what good welds are supposed to look like so I'm here to ask you guys for your opinion on the welds.

Welds look pretty good to me man, been welding for about 8 years. Just check for pinholes (you would see them if the are there) but other than that I would say they look good from the pics you posted. The welds are nice and even, looks like coins laid over. If you have further concerns I would seek out a master welder, or some guys with 30+ years of welding under his/her belt.

As promised, here's what mine looks like during installation and after. The tips sit perfect and are about 1/4" away from my bumper. The sound is nice and deep with little to no drone at all.

The exhaust is fairly quiet when cruising and loud when you get on it. As you can see in the picture the H-pipe was left on. I told him to remove that whole section and replace it with the Magnaflow, but I guess he didn't hear me..but it seems to be fine with it on.

The fitment was a little off they had to adjust the right pipe with the can a little bit for it to fit, but it wasn't anything major.

As for power, there may be a VERY small increase in the lower end, but it's nothing major at all.

Sorry for the crappy phone pictures, it's all I got.
