Default Magnaflow Universal Cats w ART pipes and Bassani Catback

Hey guys I have a question about some mods id like to do over the winter.

First off I have an 04 Auto 350z Touring.

I am planning on getting a Bassani true dual catback and ART pipes, but id like to stay legal, so ive been thinking about getting these Magnaflow 53955 universal cats (theyre 2.25" like the Bassani, and have 400cpsi) and have them welded on somewhere along the Bassani catback.

My questions are as follows:
1- Will performance gains suffer and if so how much from welding on the hfcs?
2- would it be better to weld the hfcs on closer or farther away from the ART pipes?
3- if I put the sensor in the ART pipes, the CEL shouldn't go off (ive read about this, just confirming) is that right?
4- should I, and if so how can I hollow out or open up the cats a bit more for performance?
5- shpuld I cut off the bassani resonators and replace them with these hfcs, or lesve them on and add the hfcs further down?

Thank you for your help, this is my first time trying anything like this so your input is greatly appreciated

I vote #5 because I've been thinking of doing something similar once I get LTHs. And you can pick up the HFC component from Motordyne and weld them in where you're taking the resonators out.

Yea I was actually thinking of using MDs hfc, but I decided to get 2 magnaflow 59955s for only $170 on ebay.

Im also considering wleding a e-cutout valve judt before the hfcs and see how that will change the sound (itll be bassani resonators, ecutouts, hfcs, back mufflers, in that order)

Ill try to get good audio and post it for the forums

Catalytic converters react (turn on) with heat, hence the reason they are placed as close as possible to the engine. placing a cat farther back hinders its performance due to heat loss. So #1 you wont pass VISUAL inspection during SMOG and #2 I wouldn't be surprised if you dont pass emissions

In regards to using ART pipes and a cat down stream doesnt make sense. Either keep oem cats, go ART pipes, or go HFC.

Yea but what about MD xyz's with the hfc attachment, that seems to work well for ppl.

You sort of did answer my initial question though, I guess I should place them before the resonators on the bassani so that they heat up quicker.

Above is my professional and person opinion. In california, i wouldnt pass anything that modifies or tampers with ANY emissions device. But youre in canada, so i have no idea how stringent they are up there
