Default 2006 Revup plenum question

I have spent hours reading different threads and I'm kind of confused.
1. Motordyne MREV2 makes the most power
2. MREV2 is a non revup lower plenum that has been modified

So what are the benefits of the Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum on my Revup engine over just putting on a stock non revup lower plenum off of a stock non revup engine? ..... Thanks ... Gonna keep this car n/a with intake, exhaust and maybe cams.

Get a non-rev up lower with a plenum spacer. You will see slightly lower results but save a lot more money. If money is no thing get a cosworth plenum or wait for the new moded uppers and non rev up lower with a spacer.

I would not say money is no objest but $500 for 1hp on a chassis dyno is not worth it if you know what i mean. Who makes the new modded upper? Will that work with Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum? I know its an older car but figured the combinations for this platform would be figured out by now hahaha. I want the combo for N/A that will make the most horsepower. If the Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum only makes 1 HP or something over the STOCK NON REVUP lower plenum its not worth $500 for me.

Look threw the N/A section.

The revup lower should make more peak power as its better suited for high end, the non revup will make more power in the low-mid end and have a broader torque band. If you have a dremel and some skills you can make your own MREV2, just look at pictures of it and copy it design. Revup would only be better if you want to make a higher numbers for bragging rights but the non revup will always be better for driving around.

All the Dyno sheets I saw with MREV2, 5/16TH spacer on revup 350z made minimal gains on the top end ... Like 2 - 5 HP over stock revup, but mid range was much better. I don't wanna bolt on $500 MREV2 and lose power 4k to 7k range. When I want power that is where I drive it at in the rpm range

So then you are better off with the revup lower, most would prefer a broader powerband than a peaky powerband.

Unless you are geared to always be above 6k, you will still be faster with the MREV2 and spacer. The second you shift, you're back into the mid-range where power is generally most needed. The MREV2 will bring you to your top end RPMs faster than stock, but you must get the spacer.

Exactly what I was thinking .... I bought the MREV2 and spacer and gonna install it next week. So now what exhaust will go best with that combo? Yes I have searched and searched and looked at a hundred pages of things. From what I see I can just get a y pipe and get the most gains? I will stay N/A but may do streetable cams and headers later. Will true duals make more? Really like the tomei power gains and dyno sheets but kinda too loud for me. Any info will help ... Thanks

3" single or 2.5" duels is what you want. Single will be louder.

If I could go back, I would ditch my test pipes for a set of long tube headers and stiffer engine mounts. Because you're planning on headers, it would be most cost effective and more reliable to do something like OBX long tubes and stiffer/solid mounts, initially. Replacing test pipes and y-pipe flex joints every so-often is not fun. This is generally because of the 2500-3k rpm harmonic destruction going through you entire exhaust assembly. Make sure you get the HR style y-pipe for further reliability, or do the motordyne XYZ with resonator. The range of motion on the DE style y-pipe flex joints is what causes the test pipes to crack. The Megan HR y-pipe construction was superb, minus some deburring required on the rear 2-1 collector.

The only downside is you may need to pull the engine for your headers. While you're at it, throw in a Z1 solid tranny mount -- Fantastic upgrade.

when I bought my car, 06 Z(revup), I purchased a mrev1 from a g35... and with an 2.5" axle back I dyno'd in 4th to the hubs(dyno pack) at 260hp, and 250ftlbs... since then i've gone 1/2" spacer, test pipes, y-pipe and a 3" single. I just happen to show up to a meet that had a dynojet(wheels) and in 5th gear I dyno'd 270hp and 250ft-lbs... 10 more hp, and the same ft-lbs in a taller gear, with the added wheel weight... I was impressed.
