The only trouble is ram air only really helps out at HIGH speeds and it is usually only a couple HP. At high speeds it takes a LOT of HP to make any difference as aerodynamics up the requirements of HP exponentially almost. It isn't worth it at any price.

When I was dynoing my TA, now I wish I had filmed the dodge boys and there hemi trucks. I guy did the test (CAI v Stock). They let him switch the parts right there. The gains were incredible (like 8-10rwhp). They did basline, switched to CAI with no fan, and didnt gain anything. They put the little fan in front of the filter and bam, gains.

Amazing how much air can actually raise the hp. After seeing that dyno, I know CAI is better.

Yeah better than a stock filter shrouded in plastic on a truck!

You have a point, but our intakes are made the same (goes for any new car). Paper filter wrapped in plastic with a little part to direct air thats not there.

That's why it amazes me that our intakes perform so well in stock form

Actually, air has a very easy and under pressure path to the airbox on the Z. Also, the whole intake is smooth, straight and unrestricted unlike a typical truck intake. Look closely at both setups. It is not surprising that the Z intake performs!!

Yea you have a good point. But I still would not have guessed that CAI's and even the pop charger wouldn't make better gains on our cars. My stock ITR intake had a similar track to the Z, but an AEM CAI still made some good power. I'm still banking on seeing marginal gains when I insulate that heat magnet of a top tube, though.

I put a POPCHARGER on last night in 40 mins. The sound was awsome, and hp gains/throttle response was greatly improved.. POPCHARGER rocks.

Do we really get gains from bolt-on mods? I read somewhere that the ECU will adjust to the modifications as far as increased air/fuel ratio and will keep the output at stock levels?
