Injen CAI Install Time (Being Ripped Off?)
The shop I normally do business with just quoted me over the phone at $100-125 to install the Injen CAI I bought online. This was the owner I spoke to. Last week I was quoted at $50 (half an hour), but the intake was "lost in transit" by **** poor UPS.
The owner stated it should've never been $50 because the install takes more than thirty mins. He said 350Zs are notoriously hard to install intakes on. I don't buy it. What are your thoughts? Doesn't the bumper have to be removed? How much should I expect to pay? Thanks all.

DIY ftw!

EDIT: Found this for install instructions for the Injen (assuming you have a DE)

Front bumper removal isn't too bad - definitely something you can do on your own. I've done it a few times. Here are a couple how-to's and a video:
Anyone have a how-to for front bumper removal?

Removal is really not too difficult though. You shouldn't have a problem with it.
It's not impossible to do without removing the entire bumper, but it is a whole lot easier. One of the links I posted above makes it manageable by only removing part of the bumper and keeping the passenger side attached.

It's a fairly straightforward procedure. Here's a write-up for a nismo install on a DE. Should be helpful for you.

I got my Motordyne Plenum Spacer, Injen CAI, and Stillen Y Pipe installed today for $325. The Y pipe was the hardest install. The CAI came in under $100.
The Z sounds much better. The flex portion of my stock Y pipe was damaged and sounded horrible. Now it's a clean sound. I have test pipes and a Magnaflow catback exhaust. All mods done this year. I didn't take it above 4,500K RPM since the three installs today, but I will tomorrow.
So far the Z feels and looks like it revs easier. The sound is much lower at idle because the buzzing from the damaged Y pipe is gone. It sounds louder even when not getting on the gas hard. I understand that these mods work best up higher in the revs. I'll explore that soon.
Headers are next.
