The INVIDIA does NOT include a Y-Pipe. it goes from the Y-Pipe and back.. not Cat and back..
this is the Y-Pipe I recomend..

you do not NEED a y-pipe for it.. it bolts up to the stock.. but you will get more power gain by adding a y-pipe

Thanks, but my pockets right now say no Y-Pipe. I am not looking to race anyone so for a few less HP I'll be ok. Maybe in the future if I'm not satisfied I'll get it but for now I should be ok. I just want something that give me some more power and sounds good while not breaking the piggy bank. Any other low cost mods you know of? How about the ECU? Any ideas with that?

Low Cost Mods...
JWT Pop Charger - 4-8RWHP
Unorthodox Racing - Crank Pulley & Belts - 6-8RWHP across the full RPM range
RT High Flow Cats - $500 special My350Z price 8-14RWHP
I have an Injen CAI and now I will have that Invidia exhaust. I ran a 13.87 with just an intake. Maybe get into the 13.7's with the exhaust. I want to drop a 75 shot of NOS maybe in the summer. I don't know if I will be doing headers but that is a pssibility. I have gone down this road before and went nuts and put 24k into my Honda Accord. I did so much to it that I can't drive it. I don't want to do that to my Z. Speed is god but don't want to put too much money into it. But any little mods would be appreciated.

NOS is definatly a cheep HP per Dollar mod... I am thinking of doing a 100 shot... (but just dumped all my money on a new body kit)...
INVIDIA claims high gains from the exhaust... but from all of the exhausts I have seen / sold / installed (and I sell and have installed the Invidia) I do not see the Invidia gaining as much as they claim without changing out the Y-Pipe.
the Pulley will be a good mod for you. It isnt that much and makes a great difference...
Headers are one of the last mods I would do on this car... It is just not cost effective... High Flow Cats will give you more gains then the headers and half the cost and nearly a 1/3 of the cost if you factor in install cost...

I saw a set of pulleys somewhere but I forgot how much they were going for, I think in the $300 - $400 range. The high flow cats I think ae cheaper than that right? I saw a place selling test pipes for under $200 and supposedly gives decent power gains. I have a guy that can make a custon Y-Pipe with Mandrel bends for prety cheap. Do you have a audio clips of that Invidia exhaust? Is it really loud?

Invidia exhaust is loud, but has silencers...
the high flow cats we sell to forum members for $500 ... they are CARB approved for states with smog regulations... if you put test pipes on your car you can say good bye to passing on a sniffer... and you will get smelly in the windows at lights...
also.. high flow cats show more peak power gain then test pipes...
Pulleys... we are selling the crank pulley with belts for 234.95.. that is the only pulley that makes power.. the others are for looks...
as for a custom y-pipe... that can be cool.. all depends on the construction... the JIC y-pipe is flawless and goes from 2.5" piping to a 3.16" collector that will match up perfectly to the invidia

Jason-
I have an Invidia exhaust on my Z, but I haven't replaced Y-pipe yet either. One thing I was wondering, what are your recommendations on a mid pipe, if at all? I can see once you put the y-pipe on with oem exhaust (or Invidia in my case) you'll get even more gains. But there was a thread from a few weeks ago (started by westpak I believe) talking about the power gains from the japtrix y-pipe and mid pipe.
My question is, would this combo be compatible: JIC y pipe, japtrix mid pipe, + Invidia? Or would there be any fitment problems as far as you could see? Do you think my best bet is just to stick with Invidia + JIC y-pipe
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get everything straight!
thanks

ummm... I dont believe you need to change the mid pipe on the invidia.. infact.. the invidia system is the "mid Pipe" (after the Y-Pipe) and the canisters.. if you wanted to replace that you might as well save your money and buy a couple of JIC canisters...
But.. changing the Y-Pipe will drastically increase your power out of the exhaust... I hear Invidia is working on a Y-Pipe.. but the JIC y-pipe is sooo sweet in its design and craftsmenship...

I finally got and installed my INVIDIA exhaust. It sounds real good. It has a deep, tuned tone to it with out it being too loud. It is quiet when i'm cruising and loud when I push it. The install was easy. Hardest part was getting the old one off. I think it was $600 well spent. Can't wait to go to the track now.
