Default which one is better; R/T Cats or Kentex Cat

Which one is better and which one sounds better. I heard R/T cats gives off a raspy noise. What about the kenitex? How does that sound. Which one gives more power? The R/T cats cost 500-600 bucks while the kenetex are only like 350-400 bucks.

Anyone got clips of them?

ZXsaint posted a small review with some sound clips of our kinetix cats, I thought they sounded awesome, I am sure you do a search and find the post, it was fairly recent.

Might want to even check our Doug's cats... done by Crawford's!

Priced as well, most importantly people can't talk highly enough about the service he has delivered!

More so, ZERO fitment issues from anyone!

Here is the sound clip of my combo( Borla TD exhaust, Crawford plenum, AEM intake, Stillen headers, and kenetix cats).
People said that it takes 200 to 300 miles to break-in the cats. After broken-in the sound will change a bit The sound is recorded right after installation in a big storage building. Hope it help you to decided.

Both the Kinetix’s and Crawford’s are very similar. The RT cats are very different and under some scrutiny right now (I wont go off on that here). But I can say that Crawford Cats were flowed this week vs. the RT and they flowed just a little less. I will post the flow results when we get them from TS. I cant say how the Kinetix flow but I am sure it is similar to the others.

I've been thinking about the possibility of welding brackets onto the RT cats to stop that buzzing by using the stock mounting brace. Any comments?

I haven't heard any junk about RT either.

I believe it's because they're a bit longer than the stock cats, thus lowering the exhaust closer to the cross brace and causing a rattle/rubbing sound. Shims work for some and not for others.

i think for the money kinetix is better...i mean there can't be that big of a performance difference between the two...and the kinetix will pass a visual test where the rt's will not

i had an rt cat on another vehicle and frankly they look great but that's about it. quality is not that great as far as fitment goes and i bet those converters don't last more than a year or so....only time will tell

That is the exact problem i had with my RT cats. Sounded like crap and rubbed the frame due extra length. They were returned the next day.

It has to do with the lean condition they cause. The difference in flow does not make up nor explain the lean condition. Dont know why yet (we have our guesses) but they have been known to run more lean than test pipes. That just is not right. Needless to say some people have not seen this with the RT cats, so it may be hit or miss.

The only thing that I could imagine is the lean condition be related to the placement/location of the o2 bung, altering the signal. The ECU may be thinking the car is too running too rich and holding back on fuel.

Just a guess.

Doug,

What's your theory on this? I am interested in learning why.

There are definately fitment issues with the RT cats. I had to return mine because the fit was way off. Even with shims they were wedged into the cross members. I'll probably go with the Kinetix.
