Default Far from pleased with my HKS exhaust :(

So after having my HKS true dual exhaust installed with a cat delete, it sounds freaking terrible, I've heard honda fart cans that sound better than this crap...sounds nothing like anything in the sound clips I listened to prior to my purchase, so I guess my question to you guys is am I SOL on this and just out the money or will some more aftermarket parts change the note of this exhaust that much? As it sits I'm booked in to have my stock exhaust put back on and I've obtained an expensive garage ornament

My 1st thought is the whole no cat thing.

Have you listened to others that specifically said cat deleted HKS set up?

Everything I've read states no cats=shitty sound.

IF you don't have smog tests to contend with than just run it as is - and if you do, then HFCs that are legal in your municipality/state would be good - but besides cats, I would strongly consider quieting down the system a little with an X-pipe (not to mention improving flow and scavenging) AND/OR mid-pipe resonators. Pretty sure you'll like the results.

Try: http://vibrantperformance.com/catalo...Path=1022_1033

Good luck.

Mic

alright I shall read up on those, and no...where I live there is zero air care or any emissions standards w/e you'd like to call it.

edit- running it as is, is the issue because as is it sounds horrible lol

While i mostly agree with mic. Adding a x pipe to the hks will kill the distinct note of the system. Its what i call an nsx type note. The x pipe will reduce noise and cleanup the note but get rid of the signature hks/nsx note.

that pretty much sounds like what I am looking for so...

If it helps at all, from 1-3000 it sounds fine, anything above that makes my ears bleed with the current set up. I'm hoping to find something to clean up the rasp and higher notes in the 4k+ range and some of the rasp in general would be nice. somehow I have a gut feeling I just ****ed up and will be shopping for something new as I'm probably asking for to much lol

If you want to cut rasp and drone most folks add the magnaflow resonated x pipe. Theres lots of vids on the Tube of sound clips.
Which goes in place of the mid resonators on the hks system.
