Exhaust advice
Hey guys,
Long story short my exhaust is far too loud after fitting tomei cat back, y pipe, and resonated test pipes.
Im going to have to add something back on. I'm thinking the easiest and best solution is to get an exhaust shop to weld a muffler on, either at the Y pipe join before the cat back bolts on, or 2 mufflers in place of the resonators on the 2 joints on the Y pipe.
I dont want to loose the crackle the exhaust has but at the moment i would get done for noise pollution.
Does anyone have a suggestion on type of muffler to use or the best solution?
Thanks,

I think if you are dead set on modifying your current setup to be quitter than your best bet is to add one of these magna flow mufflers. Many people add them to their current exhausts to eliminate rasp and calm the exhaust a bit

Please do not hack up your Tomei exhaust. It's completely titanium, so unless you're going to buy titanium mufflers to weld in, just don't do it. When I ran the Tomei, I ran the Motordyne XYZ pipe with the resonator section to dial it down a bit. You could run the hi-flow cat section to tone it down even more.
That is my recommendation. When I got tired of how loud it was, I switched completely to the Motordyne Exhaust.

I would sell it and get a complete exhaust made before I messed up the ti pipes... Your also going to have a hard time finding any auto shop that can weld ti
I agree dont destroy the Tomei unless you got it used and its beat up. you can sell it and use the money to get something else... Or get some catalytic converters in their...

Get some of these and have aI shop fab them onto your y pipe somehow..

If you want it quiet, a vacuum actuated exhaust valve and a nice big (stock) muffler is the way to go. Attach a solenoid with a pressure switch that releases at whatever psi suits you. When you go WOT, you get full noise/flow. At the pressure switch set point and below flow is directed through the muffler. Works great for providing 800 whp and a stock quiet exhaust around parking lots ;-)
Here is an example (find the right size based on your current piping)...

PS. I have tried all of the high end exhausts including modifying motordyne's TDX2. In the end I have a true dual 3" piping with 2.5" boost activated valves and a modified G37 muffler. Look at all the combinations Tony sent me to try out!

Added mufflers to the side branch resonators... still too loud (for me):

Finally, got a G37 muffler modified to 3" in and out and used a 2.5" cutout to bypass when approached WOT...

Finally, the car going over 160 mph in a 1/2 mile standing start event. The exhaust cut outs work! Full power when needed, whisper quiet when you want it that way. ;-)

Well I ended up putting the stock Y pipe back on. It's deeper down low and only goes spastic raspy loud at WOT. So its more controllable.
Looked at welding some of those 12" resonators onto the Y pipe but not really enough room to fit them on. I Think I'll just leave it how it is now pending police haha
