Default HR Y Pipe on a DE

I've read conflicting threads on if it's worth the hassle of fitting a HR Y pipe to a stock DE.

I've been offered a used one cheap.

Thanks

It is an upgrade compared with the DE Y pipe, which is considered very constrictive. It is considered a "cheap exhaust upgrade"

I say under $75 it's worth it. Sold mine years ago with under 5k miles for I think $125 or $150.

It is an upgrade no doubt; may not notice it, but do the swap (better flow). I sold mine to a guy in Vegas yrs. ago for $100 and he told me that he was very happy with the results; claimed good things with the hr y-pipe on his de G35.

Thanks for the replies. It's only £40 so I'll give it a whirl.

I thought the bolts might be a nightmare as the car is 12 years old now. So I plan to take it to a local garage to be fitted. I hate rusty bolts.

My thinking is that it will work better with the standard DE exhaust as the outlet is the same size as the DE midpipe.

I was going to change the system but prices in the uk are crazy at the moment and I've just had to have 2 new banana arms fitted which were more expensive than I expected.

My Z is only a sunny weekend toy and we don't get many of those in Manchester. It's kinda like Seattle weather wise.

Bolts aren't that difficult to get out. Just use some power tools and some patience. Like others said, if its cheap, go for it. It will improve exhaust flow a good bit and should be noticeable. HR headers also flow better, so if you're on a budget find some used HR headers and cats as well.

People should know that they need to remove the little tunnel brace and the plastic pieces on the DE model 350z in order to use the HR Y pipe...

This was my second upgrade after test pipes. Just as a test I disconnected the exhaust from both DE and HR y pipe and both sounded WAY different, gave the high RPMs a different tone. Do it!

do it. I have the megan hr y pipe and was quite surprised with how much it added sound wise. very aggressive (of course standard hr y pipe might be somewhat in the middle)
altought i had to remove the plastic under shroud to fit them, and it rubbed against the cabin some for me.
