Nismo Cold Air Intake On Roadster?
Does anyone know if it is possible to put a NISMO CAI on a roadster? I bought one and am trying to install it, but I am having some trouble with the instructions, which I guess are for the coupes. There are some differences between my car and the instructions. The part that is giving me the biggest problem is right below the AC line bracket. Below that are two studs that won't allow the CAI's lower tube to bolt to it's fastener. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
I have the AEM-CAI and had to juggle some stuff around to get it to fit. My friend has the coupe and same AEM CAI as mine and his was an absolute perfect fit. I guess there are some minor differences, it was just a matter of a little patience and trying a couple of things. Eventually got it to fit.

Dunc.... Thanks for the pictures... they helped me alot... I just jammed the tube down in there and I got it to stay on the rubber spacer... Scratched the hell out of the tube, but not where you can see it. I was really suprised that a new air intake could make such a difference in the sound.... it is alot louder at high revs now.
Anyway... Thanks again
FYI
Nismo is re-designing the CAI---maybe cause roadster had fit problems??? anyway, looks like vendors are getting rid of the ones that "don't quite fit" at rock bottom prices....i've seen them as low as $255 + shipping.

My K&N Typhoon didnt Go in Exactly As Planned,
Everything from the Throttle, through to the CAI Pipe went
Perfect..
But, The bolt supplied to attach the Scoop to the Tow Hook Mount wouldnt work.. Looks like the Tow Hook is Larger on the Roadster...
BUT, 4 Zip Ties work just as well...
Anyone notice on the low end you loose a bit of the Growl? But on the high end it screams like a banshee!!

Caution: My Nismo CAI was installed by the Dealer before I bought the car. It was a little loose and rubbed a hole in a A/C line and I lost all my Freon. Also, the way they had installed it the connection for the Air flow meter was against the hood of the car. this could have caused a lager issue if it had worn through th insullation on the wiring.

For any late comers reading this. I just did two installs today with a buddy of mine. One on a '04 Roadster and one on an '04 Coupe. Both cars got identical Nismo Cold Air Intakes. BOTH fit fine with no scratches .
We did notice a difference in the left fender cover mounts but that was the only real difference we found. (other than a slight difference in mount angles.)
I've got a few tips though that might make it easier (re-ordering of the installation instructions. I'll try and post pics if I get around to scanning in the install book)
Changes...
1.) assemble the filter, lower pipe and bypass valve together. (Instructions show elbow and bypass as one unit, lower pipe and filter as another) This will prevent the headache of the bottom rubber gasket being stuffed into the bypass valve as you try and fit the last pieces together.
2.) Mount the lower pipe before the elbow. Do this by loosely tightening the mounting screw over the mounting bracket on the lower pipe. When you finally do mount the elbow, mount the upper end of it first (make sure the pipes are fully seated inside the rubber joint hoses. Keep the hose clamps loose though, you may need to do some twisting.
4.) Now position the intake filter as far forward as possible (to make room for re-installing the fender cover ) by twisting it and the rest of the pipe joints as needed. This step might not even be necessary if you got it right the first time - we only needed to do it on the roadster. Once it's in place, tighten the mounting screw and then all the hose clamps. Reassemble car and voila!

Ahh, silly me, I forgot the most important part.
It sounds lovely. Power is definitely stronger.
The NISMO CAI is definitely a good choice.
(Performance Nissan... thanks, they came from you guys! Great price too!)

Dunc,
Don't know if you care at this point, but if you put the wiring harness mounting bracket on the upper mounting point (where the airbox was mounted, nearer to the brake fluid cover), you can get the harness completely out of the way, it looks pretty slick too.
