Relative noob here with some exhaust questions for a G. I'd post on FA or g35driver, but I think that there is much more expertise in this board when it comes to engine/exhaust mods.
Here goes: I've done an extensive search this past week on exhaust options. This is my understanding and please correct me if I'm mistaken in any aspect below.
The bottleneck in the exhaust in both the z and g are the headers, cats, and the y-pipe. I think the best bang for the buck would be to leave the headers but change the cats to either RT or the Kinetix. For the y-pipe, I like the jic. It's beautiful and seems to be much straighter than the nismo/fujitsubo. I think I would leave the rest of the exhaust stock because I actually like the sound of the exhaust and would like to save as much $ as possible.
My main priorities are to save weight, increase flow, and while I could take a few more decibels in sound, I don't want any raspiness or resonance if this is possible.
Kinetix is running a special on their cats and plenum for ~$730 plus shipping. Is there any reason I should just get the plenum and get the RT cats instead? If the RT's are quieter, weigh less and have less of a chance of resonating, I may consider them even though that would raise the price of both to ~$860 plus shipping.
Y-Pipe: do I need the 6" extension to hook up the y-pipe to the rest of my stock exhaust? Also, will there be a difference in the diameter of the piping between the two?
Have I forgotten any other important considerations?
Sorry for the long post but any help would be appreciated.

thanks vq. I did see the other thread on this page and someone asked about raspiness with the kinetix cats. No one really answered that question except for LSD. I just wanted to see if anyone with them could give me their experience.
I think I'll stick with the Kinetix though, if anything.
NE1 else with my other questions? Jason?

. I share your enthusiam for the Jic Y-pipe, I'd pick it over most all other Y-pipe's, providing it get's hooked up to a system down stream that share's it's 80mm collector/flange diameter. The Nismo exhaust system and I believe the Fujitsubo Legalis-R use 80mm pipe diameter. Here's a thought, buy the Nismo exhaust, then take and resell the Y-pipe that it comes with. You do not need a extention pipe to use the Jic Y-pipe, but to use the Nismo exhaust system on the G35, you do need to buy a extention pipe, which Performance Nissan can sell you. The Fujitsubo Legalis-R exhaust is avaliable in a G35 version, so no extention is needed.
I'm sure their are other single pipe exhaust systems that use 80mm pipe diameter, the two that I mention above are the one's that come realily to my mind.
