Default Anyone with Custom mid/Y pipe??

Im considering doing custom Mid and Y pipe, I was wondering if anyone has done this? what are the results?

I have a Central 20 rear section, and it is not as loud as I like my exhaust to be. I figure by using a straight mid pipe without the resonator, it will greatly change the sound of the exhaust, also increase some WHP.

Would anyone who had done this, please let me know if my theory is right?

I didn't go for more sound, I went for the HPs... See the sig for the Japtrix site. At a recent Dyno test it seemed the best "bang for the buck" at 245 WHP, but I don't have a baseline so hard to judge. This was compared to the other cars dynoed and the mods on them.

I've heard these car's with resonator delete's, not a very flattering sound quality to my ears.

Does the Central 20 rear section, have 65mm piping or 80mm piping? If it's 80mm, pattern your Y-pipe with 2 1/2" tubing diameter off the headers, then into a 3" collector, a nice cost effective Y-collector to use is produced by flow master any buy mandrel bent section's for the corners. http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat
If the Central 20 rear section is 65mm or 2 1/2", copy the Japtrix design, but consider using a premade collector and not such a steep angle of arrival at the Y. http://www.japtrix.com/customparts.htm
Nice 65mm design here, bend's are just a little to sharp, but the collector looks good.

Knowing what reside's under the oem Y-pipe's heat shields, it doesn't take much to do better. So doing better than oem isn't to hard, doing it right for flow, especially at the collector, is another matter, not all design's are as effective towards that end.

I did it in 2002 should be archived here somewhere, I got allot of flack when I was new because the turns wern't mandrel bent but w/ the Injen Intake and the exhaust I made gobs of TQ. I also changed the OEM muffler to a Magnflow race muffler after being the first here to try the FlowMaster 80 which fit perfectly.

The total cost was like 200 and it was from the cats back. So yeah I showed gains, I was opening it up for N20 anyway.
