Default AEM Cold Air Intake

AEM Cold Air Intakes

Anyone familiar with thier products? They've contacted me through a dealer and want to borrow my Z to develop an intake, but they want it for 2 weeks so I think I'm going to pass. If anyone else is interested (and in So. Cal) lemme know and I will put you in touch with them. You'd get a free intake out of the deal of course.

AEM is an OK company, but hell, the unit will not cost that much. I would hold out for a lot more.

At a bare minimum, they should give you a free air intake AND 1) Pay 1/2 of your monthly car payment 2) Pay 1/2 of your monthly auto insurance 3) Give you a loaner car or pay for a rental.

Doesn't the Z already have a cold-air-intake stock? The air is drawn right from the very front, behind the grille. Isn't that the same as what an aftermarket CAI would do?

Yeah, but AEM is probably chrome, which attracts heat, which makes the car perform worse...but hey, it LOOKS neat (gag). Got rice?

Talking AEM makes OK Intakes

Both AEM and INJEN make intakes for pretty much all the cars. The AEM are really known for the honda intakes.

Basically they will try and get more HP out of the car and they also look very nice.

But some people are like birds and like shiny things. Chrome is not my thing but it could make the engine bay look nice.

Default not chrome

AEM uses a ceramic coating/paint on there aluminum intakes, more likely it will decrease temperatures if the air is taken from the proper place. They do offer a polish version, it isn't chrome. I installed an AEM intake on my 94 Prelude VTEC and gained 12hp to the wheels, I'd recommend AEM to anyone.

Lots of mis info in this post. First off the AEM intake will not void any warranty unless it is proven that the intake was the direct result of the damage. For example sucking water into the engine. Also if you give your car to AEM you will get a free intake not to mention dyno runs before and after the intake. Not a bad deal, but it's up to you.

Yeah...A cold air intake or any intake for that matter will not void your warranty. Oh... and AEM is a great company. I had their cold air intake for my 2000 civic si and that intake was the intake to get. Best gains...best sound....best quality...Nice looks. Cost me $250. But who knows what one will do for a 350z and how much it will cost.

This whole thing was being arranged through Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, so I dont think it would void the warranty. If I was going to do it, I'd definitely get something in writing to that fact from the beginning.

Which intake uses a heat reflecting tube? The tube used is just standard aluminum or steel mandrel bent tubing similar to exhaust piping. The only way to really shield the tube from heat is to use header wrap.

Yeah for some reason the Si AEM CAI was 250 retail. I guess it was because it was the Si model.
