Default Opinion on DC headers+Kinetix Cats+Borla TD

I want to do my exhaust mods all at once. From what I've searched the main restrictions seems to be the OEM cats, then Y-Pipe, then mid-pipe, while the stock exhaust doesn't seem to be all that bad.

Many people have hi-flow cats + cat-back (or combination of Y-pipe/mid-pipe) with good results. I am curious if adding headers is overkill or not going to net much more gains than the relatively simple/inexpensive cats + cat-back mod.

I think the DC Sports headers are relatively new (and ridiculously cheap, aside from install labor) and I've only found threads by 3 people that have it and I don't believe anyone has the combo of DC Headers + Hi-Flow Cats + Cat-Back yet.

Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert on this subject -- but I've taken and interest and done quite a bit of research on intake/exhaust mods on the Z. I've been at two Z dyno meets and have a collection of dyno run data from the events and from on here.

My humble opinion is that headers are overkill. They're expensive and require a lot of labor -- yet if you've got your cats + catback done, I think they won't net you much more on a stock engine's exhaust output. However, if you go with a SC or get cammed, you're more likely to see a benefit from them.

Also, just a suggestion -- in the future you may want to add a question mark at the end of your title just so it's more obvious that its a request for an opinion rather than a review of your own.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your opinion since you've done the mods and had first hand experience with other Z's mods.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your input since you've done the mods and had first hand experience with dyno tests of other modded Z's.
