Default Exhaust/Headers

Just replace my stock exhaust system including headers with one produced by http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/350Z.htm last week. Clear Image is in Seattle, they are a custom shop that have been producing exhaust systems for the Impala SS for years. They are in the process of become a my350z.com sponser. Last Friday, I dyno my exhaust mod at Pro/Max on a Dynojet Dyno. The car was benchline a couple of weeks earlier on the same dyno. I dropped over 40lbs of weight maybe more, gain 10% hp and almost 10% in torgue at the rear wheels. This is adjusted/corrected figures. Not max. hp or max. T, but corrected figures that are less.

I do not have a scanner but Clear Image has photo's and all my dyno runs including the overlay of my benchline. The pictures are of the prototype on my Z. The sound is fantastic, but mine has a Flowmaster muffler setup for an aggressive deep sound. From the rear the Z looks stock, except to another 350 owner, because the tips are slightly different. It can sound " mean, get out of the way" or mild depending on what you are doing with the gas pedal.

Keep the rubber side down.

Wow, the base dyno on that site is EXTREAMLY low! I have never herd of a Z dynoing so low... Is there something I am not understanding? 210 rwhp?

No, that's what it tested at, I had three runs done on the baseline and for comparison purposes, the highest or best run is being used on the lay over graph. I operated the car on both test. The runs where all done in fourth gear with the pedal to floor pull out at 6300rpm. Some of the other tests that I have see on the form have been run in fifth gear. But as stated different dyno can give different results. Dynojet, this one at Pro/Max, is considered one of the best, a lot of race/track cars and clubs use it. There is a fellow in Portland who ran his 350 on a local one down there and he failed to reach 200rhp on his tests. It wasn't a Dyno jet though. When testing you have compare apples to apples. Look at Injen Tech. tests, they show 20 more rhp on there baseline, 232 rhp. than mine. Most likely if we ran on the same dyno, we would show closer results, depending on our modifications of course.

What type of dyno are they using? You said dynojet? (If so, that's the LOWEST we have EVER seen a DynoJet read)

What altitude are you?

Mind posting your dyno graphs with correction factors... this will help indicate why those numbers are so low.

Welcome to the board btw...

*FYI... I would strongly recommend making your pulls in 5th gear, as this is the Zs 1:1 - That will keep consistancies between your company and potential customers who buy your parts and dyno.

I believe the correction factors are reported on the statistical page of each run. The benchline would be a little difficult to re-do now that the mods have been done. But our Z Club is having a Dyno Day April 10th and I'll make a run in fifth & four, be interesting to see if there a difference. It will be a different Dynojet at another local shop. The Tacoma shop is a couple hundred feet above sea level. Bar. 29.41

I guess I better join ZCCW....I have to see this in action!

Try their web site; http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/350Z.htm
I know that Clear Image has applied to my350z to become a vendor but that was only last week. Checkout the Northwest section for the local news. They shop is in Georgetown but they are moving this week to a larger shop in Auburn. I do know they're offering a great deal right now as an intro. They'll even do the install.

22 HP is a pretty good gain but those headers are pretty expensive but looks like they are easy to install.

I wonder how much the exhaust will go for?

The installation is the nice part. Check Clear Images web page. They talk about the install. Since my car was used for the prototype, I was able to watch. They did almost all the header install from below. They did some of the work from above after removing the air cleaner package. Doesn't Clear Image have intro offer going right now? They said they were going to?

Hi everyone,
I just want to clear a few things up. The mufflers used were not Flowmaster, rather we used a set of SpinTech Pro Street mufflers. A customer turned me onto them a few years ago and after ordering and installing a set on my Impala I became a dealer for them. We use them pretty much exclusively on just about anything Japanese or American.
The price i posted on my site was based off the time and material it took for the prototype set. Once we are set up for production, we are hoping to be able to produce them for less, but I knew everyone would be looking for some number. The exhaust was done and re-done a couple times so I couldn't estimate the price. Once we are moved into our new building we will be able to get back on track. We will be pulling the headers and exhaust from Mel's car again and building a set of 1 3/4" primary headers with a dual 2 1/2" exhaust. The larger primary size is more suited for supercharger or nitrous applications as there is a lot more exhaust, especially with nitrous as the nitrogen is expelled rather than burned.
We are offering a intro special for the first 5 orders. What we are looking for are owners of bone stock cars that will do a before and after dyno run as well as before and after 1/4 mile runs, as dyno numbers only mean so much, but it's at the track where it really counts.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to call me or email. We are a small shop and cater to customer service. We have never advertised before this forum, I am happy to say all sales have been via word of mouth.
If you call and no answer please leave a message. i return all calls and all email correspondence personally.

We look forward to meeting some of the local owners at the next get together. Once we are set-up in the new shop we will be hosting an "Open House". All are welcome via RSVP.

Take care.
