Why does everyone ask about certain brands of test pipes throwing a light? They are all the exact same thing. A metal pipe. If you are getting CEL's from removing your cats you are unlucky and nothing more. The newer Z's may be more sensitive. I do not know. I have XERD headers and have run Kinetix test pipes and never had a CEL. There are many like me. There are others who have run these same products and gotten CELs. The brands do not matter. It is the car and possibly the care taken of the O2 sensor during installation.

The rear O2 sensors in OBDII systems are there for one reason, to let the computer know the converters are present and functioning properly. Since test pipes delete the converters, any and all should be getting a cel. Usually a O2 simulator is the answer. There seems to be more to the story here.....

the ONLY time any HIGH FLOW CAT or TEST PIPES will throw a CEL would be if the person installing them damages the O2 Sensor...

Has anyone with test pipes ever experienced hissing noises?

If so, what is the causing it?

I have a CEL with these pipes. However many of us that get this light is because we have either a TT or Sc. THe codes are usually "system running too rich" u can get a o2 simulator from a member here who makes them . Skidazzle is the person u want to PM if u want one. I bought mine from him for $30 shipped. Havent installed it though but i heard it works great.

I installed my Kinetix Racing Test pipes a couple months ago and have had no SES light. I was stupid while doing some stuff under the hood acually today and left a sensor unplugged which threw a SES light as soon as i started the car. Shut it right down and unhooked the battery for a couple hours and hooked it back up and everyhting fine again. My Kinetix pipes have a weird hiss after i rev it up and the rpms come down. Sounds weird, thought it was an exhaust leak at first. But i work at a delership so i put my car up on a lift and had a tech listen to it while i was reving it. He was dumbfounded cause there was no leak, the noise was coming from inside the test pipes, oh well. As long as there not leaking...cool lol.

This makes me feel a little better. Atleast I'm not the only person who's experienced the hissing. I have double and triple checked for leaks and can't find any. The hissing got louder after I installed a JIC Bullet y-pipe but everything seems to be bolted-up nice and tight. If I'm not losing any power, I guess I can deal with the hiss for now.

No CEL or SES codes yet-knock on wood.

I took good care of the o2's, but since i didn't unplug them from the wiring harness and just took out the sensor is that what caused my light? Or do i just need some simulators? please help i really hate the light.

They did on my '04 G and not on my '03 Z. I did a mechanical fix and all is well thereby ruling out O2 sensor damage during installation as the cause. If it was, I would still be throwing a CEL even after the mechanical fix.

$14 from any major auto parts chain in your area. Drill out the non-fouler that the sensors attach into to 1/2" OD. Voila.
