Default Which Plenum?

I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. I am going to start upgrading my Z. Which Plenum should I look at getting? Are there any major differences between the ones that are out right now?

ones metal, ones plastic.

one is 200$ more unless you trade your core for it, and requires a 200$ strut bar if you want a strut bar. that is the metal one.

plastic has cracked in the past, V3 hasnt yet to my knowledge.

Id wait 2-3 weeks, see what happens with the V3, give it time to get a bunch out there, let people test them and see how it goes.

The Crawford strut bar is actually $150 when you purchase the plenum.

IMO, why wait? The Crawford has proven to be the superior Plenum. Same price as the Kinetix, if you return the core. I'm more than pleased with mine, and really can't understand why anyone else would want to be another guinea pig for the Kinetix folks. Get the Crawford, it flat out works.

The million dollar question for me is:

Does the Crawford plenum growl like the Kinetix unit? Is it quieter?

Put a POPCharger on it, and the sound will put you in heaven. When I was running the stock intake, I really heard no difference in sound than the stock plenum, but then I had the "G" intake tube, and stock filter box with a K&N in it. As you can see, I've since added a "Z" tube and a POPCharger. As I said, the sound is mean with a nice growl, at WOT, it howls.

Dumb question... but I havent been following plenums very much.

Can you keep the strut brace with the Kinetics?

Can you keep the strut bar with kenetix? Yes.

Ares.. Now you HAVE heard of someone with a V3 that cracked. Me. Although not in the usuall area, and it could have been a defect.

none of the plenums create a growl. a popcharger will.

The kinetix plenum does create a sound, i'm not sure if i would call it a growl but it sounds cool whatever you want to call it.

The Crawford does create a more gutteral sound from 4K on, with the stock Z intake. It does not sound completely stock, but cool nonetheless.

Trust me, the Kinetix unit growls! I had one on for 2 weeks before I took it off because of the noise. It was loud enough to overpower the exhaust sound. If you put your ear onto the plenum during idle, you can literally feel the resonating which results in the growl.

Good gains, but I wasn't happy with how it contrasted my 350z goals.

Popcharger wails/chirps, but only at 50% + throttle applications. You can easily drive the car without it being heard. With the plenum it simply isn't possible to ignore it whenever the car's running.

Victor,

You can hear sound clips of the KINETIX growl on my site at the bottom of the Plenum install page:
