Default The skinny on stillen exhaust.

i just started my new job and it looks like stillen exhaust might be back in reach again. i would like to hear from those who have it, and how they feel about their purchase, specifically was it worth the 1000+ dollar price tag in terms of power, appearace, and sound. photos would be nice of how it looks, havent seen the dual walled tip yet and audio of how it sounds with or without high flow cats would be nice also. this seems to be a system that i cant get much secondary info on, and i hear that stillen fudged its dyno numbers. so if anyone has dyno charts that would also be great. thanks

Awsome exhaust

I had the old one. Sounded great and had good power gains.
I replaced it with the Nismo for the Looks but I think it made a tad more power.

Sport Z Magazine has some video and sounds of different exhausts for the 350Z here (the Stillen could be found in the list)

Default Stainless Steel

I know that the Stillen exhaust is stainless steel I don't know about
the Nismo exhaust being stainless steel or not.

The double wall tips looks great, i wanted to ask stillen if they would just sell me the muffler part with the tips welded on but can't make it to the stillen meet this june 5. The sound is great with the rest of the exhaust stock or with header. With hf cats it gets way louder, but it's not annoying to me, the cats do make it a little raspy. I had a sound clip on here maybe do a search for it when i just got my cats. It's funny how so many people hate the sound clip, it's really not that great sounding but it sounds much better in person. The cats sound does smoothen out just a bit after a while but can get pretty loud and a bit raspy on WOT. If you drive it normally it sounds pretty good and a lot smoother.

found the sound clip here it is, actually it would be better to go to stillen on june 5 as people with the new exhausts will be dynoing and you can hear all kinds of combinations.

I've heard both Stillen & Nismo and own Stillen. Stillen has a richer, deeper sound. Nismo sounds tinnier, higher pitched and more like a motorcycle. Depends on what you like. The Stillen makes more HP & torque though.

Default Stillen Exhaust

I love my Stillen. The shop I had it installed at has done many types of exhausts, and Stillen is the best gain on the dyno.

I'm about to add the Stillen headers and race pipes.

My dyno showed 9hp and 14ft. lbs. gained

i listened to the video you sent me and am wondering if the rasp is always there or was the car just cold when you did that, it sounded like it got progressivly better as the system heated up. is that the case?

That's the RT cats your hearing, not the Stillen. The Stillen has a far less raspy, buzzy character and a deeper bass tone than most other exhausts. I own the RTs myself and I'm going to have them removed. Still havent decided if I'm going to try something else or go back to stock cats. But the Stillen exhaust is staying - it sounds fantastic and you can really feel its impact on low end torque. It's great!

My personal opinion.

Very very good exhaust, love the tone BUT OVER PRICED.

I have one.

Default STILLEN

I have the stillen exhaust and stillen headers with test pipes - you can definately tell the difference - the stillen sounds incredible too - nice deep tone - though the race pipes will be coming off - do not like the raspiness they make, good power but hate the rasp - i will be installing kinetix race pipes with resonators though - they claim to get rid of the rasp - we will see
