Default Borla vs. Injen

Alright, i'm trying to decide which exhaust i want to get. I KNOW I KNOW Search.. blah blah blah, but I don't want to read through millions of threads comparing every possible exhaust when i have narrowed it down to these two.

I take pride in the fact that my Z is not "rice" like 1/2 of the other imports driving around right now and i want to keep it that way. Thus, i'm looking to avoid that "ricy" exhaust sound that every civic and integra has, most of you know what i'm talking about.

I already have an Injen Intake, and i know this can cause a slight difference and sometimes some raspiness in sound at certain RPMs with certain exhausts, thus.... here are my questions.

I'm looking for that deep strong sound and not the loud annoying buzz, I have listened to sound clips but none of them really do exhausts justice so i'm lookin for other people's opinions on this one. Which is going to be the best?

Next, as far as performance, with strictly I/E which is gonna give the best gains? This will probly be my last performance mod for a while, as i'm going to start doing some exterior/interior stuff and probly wait out a bit on my warranty and make sure nothing goes wrong cuz my local nissan dealership is not very mod-friendly however i know the tech's well enough now that i can sneak by with I/E for pretty much any warranty work.

the borla exhaust has a deep mellow tone to it, but i heard the injen is much louder. i'm not much of a loud exhaust fan so i got the borla's. im pretty satisfied with the results.

performance is similiar as you probably know. depends what test you look at, but the one I remember borla had .5more hp, and injen had like 2 more lbs/ft

borla looks more stock based on muffler setup.

injen has 4 peices, borla has 15 or so. injen uses flanges, borla uses clamps.

by build alone, injen is better, I dont think thats argueable, machine welds look perfect, polished piping all the way through. its a bit more moolah though.

sound, loud vs quiet. I dont think it sounds farty or ricey. but others might, I love it. its enough to hear it and I love it. but Im 20, so my acceptable standards might be a bit higher than yours; I dont know anything about you.

in the everything350z.com exhaust comparison they claim the borla made 3.5 more hp than the injen, but didn't have a tq reading for the injen. here are some sound clips, check the drive-by's at the end to get the best idea.

Go with the Borla, if you like the stock sound, with a slightly deeper note.

Both are excellent choices, IMO. Borla looks more like stock, but just from the appearance, the InJen looks like it weighs much less.

I personally just ordered the InJen straight tip because the Borla's been done a LOT around the Dallas area and I wanted something a little different. That and with my headers, the car's already loud as hell, so I'm more concerned with getting rid of the rasp (since both are true dual set ups).

injen is lighter but only by like 2 pounds vs borla. 48 vs 50.

I see from your location that you're in socal. One of these days u should come on a run with us. There are a couple people running the borla exhaust so you can hear them in person, and I have the injen angled exhaust so you can hear that too. I think there's a dyno day on the 12th of June so come out and you can hear both kinds.

I just installed (myself in 2.5hrs) the Injen1985C. The sound is deep not raspy. You may have to pay someone to put on the Borla. All my co-workers thinks it sounds great. Not like the ricer noise. It is louder than the Borla setup but not bad. It all depends on what you are looking for. My boss and I just took it out this morning and it sounds great at 122mph.
