DC Sports Ceramic Headers INSTALLED!
DC Sports Ceramic Coated Headers
DC Sports Stainless Steel Headers
Ceramic Coated Header Pictured. Both in stock and shipping the same day.
So, I got my car back on Tuesday night and Wednesday started ripping it apart and putting some new goodies on. The DC Sports Mild Steel Ceramic Coated Headers.
Last Dyno Configuration:
RT High Flow Cats / NISMO Exhaust
Last Dyno Numbers:
248.0RWHP / 239.3ft-lb TQ
Set up before install (Engine wize):
JWT Pop Charger, Test Pipes, NISMO Exhaust & Tilton Flywheel and clutch.
Dyno Before Install with above mods:
None sorry (Donations? haha)
Install:
If you are planning on installing headers. The sooner, the BETTER! WOAH, the bolts were almost impossible to get off. Ended up needing to take out two studs since the nut just turned to mush under the wrench. (now I'm going to add studs to our web site hehe). I had 38980 Miles on my car at the time of Install.
Install Fitment:
Held them up to a set of NISMO headers that we know fit on the car. Same basic pipe bends so I didnt see clearing the steering column a problem. There were no "Fitment" problems. A couple of bolts were harder to get to to tighten then on the NISMO's.
I decided to change my gaskets while I was in there. They were actually in very good condition being metal but since I had them I put them in any way.
Sound:
Car is a little louder now. Especially under WOT. The car sounds over all stronger. Hard to believe because before the car was very strong sounding.
Performance:
The butt dyno is telling me there is a power increase but not that much more. Im feeling a guestimate of 8RWHP added across the powerband with a jump around 5800-6000 RPM in added HP. But, the car definatly pulls harder and is more responsive then it even was before. So there is an improvement. I am off to Willow Springs tommorow to run the car so we will see how it feels. I will also be stopping at Palmdale to do a few 1/4mile runs on the way back from Willow and I will beable to compare to my best time of 14.2 on that track.
Overall feelings:
If you do not want to spend a ton of $ on Headers and Install these are the headers for you. If you pick the Stainless or the Ceramic you are making a good decision. If you are putting on headers for good and no plans of removing them for a turbo, then put on the stainless, you do not want to go in and replace a header that has rusted and corroded. There is definatly a performance gain, but no more then a set of High Flow Cats or Test Pipes will give you. Do other mods like Crank Pulley before you go to the headers. Spend less money for the same HP. But over all. With a lower priced header that will give you a power increase. This is worth the loot!

they look nice and look like they are pretty good quality pieces...just wondering if there nismo headers quality and performance wise are better than the dc sports stainless steel headers?
I order the Ceramic Headers, how long should i expect these headers to last. I have never order headers before. I know the SS headers are supposed to last longer. Is salt the biggest thing that causes the Ceramic ones to fail?

would your butt dyno, description be the same for a set of nismo headers? are they really worth paying double the cost? i guess only a dyno will tell you how much you really got from the DC's, but i know how much you like the nismo headers and all.
even though they look similar in piping design, the nismo's have larger primaries, and then step larger again. we wouldn't be sacrificing too much torque with the nismo's, would we?

i know a way i can measure these... ill measuer them when i have a chance on monday...
if you are running cams... id say go with a larger header like the NISMO's... the NISMo have the largest diamater and collectors, next is stillen, then dc, then borla... I cant really comment on the crawfords without seeing them in person next to all of the others
install time is about 4-5 hours...
