Default Headers / Heat

The stock exhaust manifolds have heat shields. Has there been any problems with excessive heat after installing headers? Does the cabin get warmer or does wiring or plastic take a beating? Also, has anyone wrapped the headers or installed any sort or heat barrier?

i've heard ceramic coated headers will give off less heat than stainless steel ones. i guess that's something.

IMO, coating is always a good plan. It's really quite affordable for the benefits it offers.

I plan to ceramic coat both my Y pipe and my stainless headers once it arrives.

I have run 10,000 miles on my stainless headers, including four track events with them, no wrap or shield, and no problem in the bay or the cabin with heat issues etc., and I am running FI as well.

My headers were giving off so much heat they were causing my brakes to fade. I had to wrap them with a heat shield to keep them from heating up my brake lines.

I would reccommend heat shieling the brake lines and the fuel and ac lines that are close to the headers.

Ditto

Borla.

I have SS Brake lines and slotted and drilled rotors so I couldn't tell you about brake fade though.

Default ceramic coating

I bought DC Sports Header Ceramic Coated $260. And I just send them out to have Air Born Coating (similar to Jet-Hot) for $160.

Will have them back in about 2 weeks.

You can buy a heat shielding tape, it works pretty good, just wrap the lines and there you go.

Thanks I will wrap the lines. I assume you can get the tape at OSH or Pep Boys or do you have to order.
