Default Has your Kinetix plenum cracked?

Please post the following so we can get a database going.

1. Version of plenum
2. How long it took to crack/how long you've had it and if it hasn't cracked
3. Your experience with contacting Kinetix

only one to post a reply to this poll as of yet but I am still on my version 1 with no problems since install back in the beginning of February but I am sure you will see quite a few cracks out there.

(and probably that crack head who loves to post those stupid a$$ drawings)

BTW - crack head - I actually thought it was funny, THE FIRST F*CKING TIME. How about something new and ORIGINAL? Or is that asking a bit too much?

v0 (pre-order), installed in March, and no cracking whatsoever!

why so many stupid threads about the same thing. If you dont like the pleanum then post it on the other 10 threads. Or hears an idea DONT BUY it. Almost everyone here by now knows that the plenum had problems before but you still bought them. Why? I have the plenum and yes it cracked, mabey i should start one too! This is a brand new company and yes it has some problems but they fix it and very hassell free service.

I agree that people tend to make too many repetitive threads about the same topic. But I don't think this one is repetitive at all. I think this thread could be very useful in showing HOW MANY Kinetix plenums are actually having problems and how many HAVEN'T CRACKED

I am more interested in the % of plenums that haven't cracked so far. there are people saying that cracking is usually caused by over torquing the bolts. but I guess nobody will really want to admit to doing that.

I've cracked all 3 versions now. Had to take a trip Friday and inspected my Plenum prior to leaving, huge cracks, the largest i've seen yet. E-mailed Kinetix, applied some hi-tech silicone and took the trip. OK as of now. None of my failed Plenums were because of over tightened bolts, they just flexed to the point of cracking. It seems like all the Plenums (V1, V2 & V3) would fail, maybe the owners don't drive their cars hard. Yes, I did read the other post where the Plenum failed to the point of shutting the engine down. If this continues, I guess i'd better stud the manifold so the threads don't strip.

I actually like wiseprice drawings. He makes me laugh. I think is original to express oneself through drawings. Wiseprice, I must tell you this: "YOU MAKE DRAW"

this poll won't be accurate as it is very open and anyone can vote, even those w/o one.

mine cracked like 3 weeks after install, i drove it pretty hard because i loved the power it gave and the sound it makes lol, im on the list for a new V4, as of right now i havent experienced any adverse effects due to the cracking but im sure it will happen sooner of later.

... just curious. Is everyone using a torque wrench? I thought it was a little scary Kinetix's instruction suggested hand tightening was ok if a torque wrench was not available. 'Hand tightening' leaves too much to be interpreted even if a 1/4" rachet w. extension was used ... assuming one actually used the smaller 1/4" rachet w. 6" extension as outlined to begin with. The urge to over tighten is inevitable w.o. a torque wrench. Non the less ... this is a short coming of the product, one that's does not have a high tolerance to over-torquing.

This is my very first Kinetix Plenum (v4). So far so good. Power gain is very evident ... will dyno soon for quantitative analysis. I do have to admitt it's a little unsettelling to see it flex as I mesh the throttle down. I do like it very much so far ... let's hope it lasts.

Good Luck,

Which way does it flex? Inward or outward?

I've only seen it flex outward (expand). I can't say if it moves more or less than the earlier version, since this is my first Kinetix plenum. We're all hoping the center being no longer bolted down, thus relieving stress at the center and evenly spread the load to the sides. Time will tell ... I'll keep the rest posted. I've got a few more open track events planned for the year. If it can survive to year end, then we could be on to something here. Until then ... good luck!

outward on open throttle is how it flexes

V2 Cracked after about 3 months. Well... I didn't notice the cracks until after 3 months, it's possible that it cracked sooner than that.

My V4 is scheduled for delivery sometime next week.

actually... its flexing inword on idle, and returning to normal state during driving. its sucking in with the throttle body closed, creating a vaccum. its less resistance when its driving and it has a free flow of air in.
