Default Need advice on exhaust; different criteria.

After doing a search and reading hundreds of posts, I was unable to find anyone who had my goals in adding an exhaust:

1. SLIGHT increase in sound only at low rpm; moderate increase OK at high rpm (as a trial lawyer, wouldn't be in my best interest to be buzzing the courthouse, let alone get cited for excessive noise).

2. Love the BURBLE, no harsh BRAP!

3. Couldn't care less about any hp increase, as long as no perceptible decrease.

4. Must be dual-tipped.

5. Chrome preferred, but would consider brushed/satin finish (for example, like the look of the Borla from the rear).

6. Must be a true dual exhaust.

BOTTOM LINE: Want it to look and sound cool, but not be obnoxious or annoying, i.e. I do NOT want those around who hear me drive by think the world is coming to an end, just think, "hey, cool exhaust."

As a modding newbie, I'll appreciate all opinions.

well, if you drive around with just the Borla, people won't know you have an exhaust - a little too stockish for me...

I think the GReddy that I have would fit in all the criteria above, BUT I don't think you would like the look if you want something conservative...

My best guess for you, although somewhat pricy (but you're a lawyer for Christ sake's!), is the Stillen True-Dual - has a great sound and nice look and actually makes more power than just about anything else out there... the only reason more people DON'T have it is because it runs about $1200 (versus $700 for the Borla)... but I think it would fit what you're looking for perfectly... Good Luck w/ whatever you choose!

Stock sound at idle with the occasional burble. Beyond that the sound of the exhaust is very dependant on how you drive. I am a physician, and as you don't want to be buzzing by the courthouse, I don't want to be buzzing by the hospital. That said, the Nismo is only slightly louder than stock with light-medium throttle. Leaving my family oriented neighborhood at 6am, I keep the throttle light and shift around 2000 rpms. The exhaust is very quiet under these conditions. I do the same when arriving at work.

However....the Nismo has a "Mr. Hyde" side. Under hard acceleration, it wails. It is by no means an obnoxious sound, just loud like a Ferrari or BMW M3 under hard acceleration. Very exotic sounding in its tone. Fit and finish are perfect and it is warrantied by Nissan. Very happy with my choice.
