Is this some kind of a Plenum??
what is exactly? could it be the lower part of the plenum?? seen it on a japanese site and is called "power intake system"
do any of u have an idea!!??

That is a picture of our lower intake manifold (stock) with a spacer installed. Sort of a cheap way of giving us more manifold space up top sort of what a aftermarket plenum does.

Hmmm... well, it's a good idea. It would increase the volume of the plenum, however you'd have to lose your stock strut bar and your engine cover. IMHO it would be better to go with a Crawford Plenum if you are going to lose those things.

actually you retain both the engine cover and strut brace if you want....they recommend trimming the motormounts 8mm to do it.
Is it expensive? Yes....it certainly is. But having seen the Esprit car with this in, it, among their other parts, happen to work...I have yet to see another NA Z that came close! But I do agree, its very pricey

Hmmm... good to know. I guess on the plus side, you wouldn't have to worry about it cracking.

What do you mean by you have yet to see another NA Z come close?
Are they dynoing really high or something? Hmm.

If it does what it supposed to do (get more air in) then I think is a better product than the upper plenums that we have to choose from right now. Kinetix cracks and Crawford gets warped from the welding process. Besides, this thing is made from aluminum so to me the $450 is not too much considering we pay $375 for plastic plenum (kinetix) and about $400 for a bastardized original plenum (crawford). The only problem is that it needs more work to be put in.

I am gonna correct myself here. I did not read the post about just being a spacer for the stock plenum. Not worth it to pay $450 for a gasket.
Note: Crawford already tested "plenum spacer" concepts before settling on the currnet modified plenum design. What this "spacer" does is simply increase the volume "total".
However;what is deficient in the OEM plenum is "equality" of air distribution (front cyclinders get less air than rear). By simply raising the plenum vertically you do not solve the distribution issue. So an optimized plenum solution was found by increasing volume in the front to compensate for the smaller volume of the rear. Basically this spacer costs much more over-all and doesn't solve the fundamental issue of the OEM plenum.
