Default NIsmo Exhaust really a straight bolt-on?

Hey Z heads,
Gotta a question about the Nismo exhaust. My buddy and I are gonna install his Nismo exhaust this weekend. Is it really a straight bolt-on as they suggest. Any info/insight would really help. Especially from the folks that have already installed one. Thanks.

It truly is a bolt on. The hardest part for me was getting the old muffler off the hangers. If there are two people, it should be eaiser. By yourself on your back its a real PIA. Other than that piece, its about 30 minutes of effort.

Hey thanks Alang. That's what I like to hear about an install. Plain and simple, because I hate to run into things that make it more difficult/snags/fitment issues. Especially something that is a bolt-on. Thanks again.

It took me a total of an hour and a half in my driveway. 75% of the time was spent getting the old stuff off. Definitely get some ramps or something to get the rear off the ground to get some room. Putting the exhaust in is really quick.

Bolt on. No real hassle. Took about an hour from start to finish. Without a doubt one the two best mods that can be done to increase power/torque - the other being a Nismo cold air intake.
I stayed totally with Nismo on my car - no interest in voiding Nissan's warranty.
Otherwise, great sound from Nismo system - should be stock.

hey tlmuas,

i am also installing the nismo this weekend. my friend and i are going to pick up the exhaust from performance nissan in the morning and then hopefully have it done by noon (so we can chug a few beers. ) Hey...you wouldn't happen to work at...hahaha!

here are a few things i found in my forum search:

I read in this thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....=nismo+exhaust

that you may need shims to prevent rattling...though I am not sure if you will still need the shims if you have stock cats.

Also, I read something about a heat wrap on the pipe? I can't remember the details or thread...someone had asked if the heat wrap should be coming off the stock pipe and back onto the Nismo one? something to that extent.
