Default what r the bads of crawford headers and plenum?

i know this is late seeing as both parts are already in-bound to my house. but what are the bad consequences or side affects of adding these beauties?

i ordered:
Crawford Headers
Crawford Plenum ( powder coated black to match Injen CAI)
Crawford Strut Bar

currently on the car i have a B/M Short shifter with nismo GT shift ****, Injen SES exhuast with straight tips and Injen CAI.

will my gains be able to be felt while driving the car. to my butt dyno i was totally able to feel the exhuast, so im excited about these new toys coming in soon.

let me know thanks

john

John,

I have NISMO Headers, Crawford Plenum/CATS, & JIC Y-Pipe for the Plumbing section.

Honestly, I felt more "seat-of-the-pant" gains with the Plenum + Y-Pipe combo. With my current set up, not much difference; however, I did gain 2 MPH for my Trap Speed and consistently reduced my 1/4 time by .2 sec. with mu current set up, compared to previous.

My only gripe with Crawford CATS is the raspiness between 2500-3000 RPM when on the throttle and/or cold. Otherwise, it has performed flawlessly.

I have the plenum and the cats. Noticeable gains, and no downside. I'm thinking of getting the headers. If I do get headers, they will be Crawfords. The customer service at Crawfords is great, and everything they make works. There not in it for a quick buck, but for the long haul. They stuff they make is very well tested. I can't say enough good things about them.

The headers will give you gobs of torque through the middle, you will love it. The Plenum will help keep the car accelerating to redline. You really do need to do something about the stock cats though. It would be a great time to put in so hi-flows or test pipes when the headers are installed.

i guess the only bad thing about the crawford headers are the bloody knuckles you'll end up with installing them......*my poor mechanic

i went from nismo headers to crawford headers and do feel a slight increase in low/mid torque; top feels the same....i'm wondering if i should get the plenum now.

IMO the only negatives is the $$$$. But other than that they are good products with solid & proven gains.

also, one thing i would prefer about the nismos over the crawfords are the collectors. each pipe merges w/ the center being a pin point (if you can picture it)....not so with crawfords

the collectors really dont seem very nice. but the gains are wonderful and their quality seems to be pretty good as well.

It would have been better if Crawford's headers were stainless steel - especially goven the price.

Doug and the guys at Crawford are great to deal with. I have their plenum and strut bar, and I have no complaints--even if it did lighten my wallet. lol

i live in naples,fl. now the wealthiest city in the nation and around here i see a ton of Z's, two of which are turbo, plently of porsche , ferarris, benzs u name it we have it.

so a stock looking Z with these HP gaining parts should be nice to see what the Evo thinks next time i decide to run with one.

the wallet thing doesnt bother me. my last paycheck for ONE WEEK was 1160.00.

i work on high end cars such as porsche, mercedes, and BMW. i also gave a hand in tuning my friends yellow s2000 which is now on the cover of turbo mag. i also had to oppertunity to dyno one of the first Greddy TT Z in my town. ACP.

btw: im 18

i have one question now, how hard is it to install these headers?

thanks

Default crawford

I only have the plenum and strut bar, butt dyno was great. The first time I drove it after it was installed I hit the rev limiter before I knew it I hear if you don't have a rack to put the car on the header install is an absolute pain. A couple guys on here did do the install though on jack stands. If you work at a car shop maybe they will let you use one of the bays for the day. Good luck, and enjoy.

i have not heard of anyone else with crawford cats having the raspiness...the complaints that i have read are usually associated with rt cats or test pipes
