I spoke to Peter during the install of the my new exhaust and was told that the first prototype full aluminium casting is being CNC machined at this point in time for fit quality and road performance testing, once it has been passed by the ASP engineers for production, should be on target for release shortly after the TT is released in late September.

No problem and I will get additional info on the APS web site soon with regard to the test pipes.

The APS test pipes are of a straight through design............we figure when a person installs test pipes that their intent is maximum power............the straight through design will provide the best gas flow and power.

I will leave the dyno figures to the US dealers as we don't have access to another car to do all of the dyno testing (our car is TT) and I'm positive that you will be impresed with the response and exhaust note on a N/A Z engine.

Thanks

Peter

Just to make sure: on an N/A Z engine, this exhaust won't have any drone at highway cruising speeds?

I only wanted to make sure because of the difference between exhausts designed for turbo systems and exhausts designed for N/A. Since turbos themselves act as mufflers, I've often seen turbo exhaust systems have a bit less muffling than equivalent N/A exhaust systems. My main concern is always highway cruising. If an exhaust is loud as hell when on the gas, that's fine. When I'm cruising for hundreds of miles on the highway, though, I need quiet.

well depend on the muffler set up, , it could be a true dual exaust or it could be an x pipe style, i would consider it true dual enough to gine faster response, but with enoudh back presure and aerodnamic engineering and attention to detail to actually make the car go fast than to rely on a gimmic title like "ture dual exaust" i like aps i respect their attention to detail, for example, their prelnum has no sharp angle in the front to induce tubulence, its metal and from cratch, and it h=cmoes wiht a naturally effective factory style strun bar option s oppose to a weird shifted design, aps rocks, i like the way the do things. ball bearing and all the fixing for guel and safety, like oil pan that wont go lower than the stock oil pan but still with higher capacity and cooling fins, everything is the absolute best with aps.

I can promise you this true twin system is amazingly quiet in partial throttle cruise conditions at speeds between 30 to 100 mph on a N/A 350 Z.

This is one of the reasons why this APS cat back system is a little more expensive than some other cat back systems around as it incorporates 2 big resonators as well as a huge rear muffler.............this way we achieve huge gas flow for big power and very quiet exhaust noise emission when cruising at highway speeds............and I agree with you there's nothing worse than a constant exhaust drone when cruising for pleasure

Now when you do get on the gas in a spirited way the system has a deep throaty note particularly in the higher RPM range and all the way to redline.

Fantastic! Great to know. Has any discussion been done already regarding the weight of this system compared to stock?

I will provide this info as soon as the first production cat back systems are completed........weight was not the most important criteria when designing the APS cat back system.......high horsepower potential for turbo and supercharger conversions combined with low exhaust back pressure was considered to be most important.........this we have achieved and with an awesome exhaust note in full throttle driving conditions.

That exhaust looks nice, hopefully it will perform as good as it looks!

oh well, its the best exaust made for this car, and aps also makes the best forced induction kit and plenum. could this be a trend?

He told us a few posts above that the weight won't be disclosed until the production units are finished. (Final production units often weight a bit more or less than the prototypes.) We'll just have to wait until it's released.

Mate spot on I just want to make sure I provide you guys with accurate info on the actual weight of the cat back system.

As I said previously this APS exhaust is not so much about weight reduction...............it's all about very low back pressure at high power and awesome exhaust gas flow for high powered TT and supercharged Z cars..................I just love the note on the TT Z with the test pipes and APS cat back.............sounds very exotic..............like a mega dollar super car.
