Default Problem With Ultimate Cats!

I changed from RT Cats to Ultimates just a month or so ago. I've been very happy with the rasp elimination from the RTs but had a slight vibration when downshifting. Well just yesterday a very loud noise began coming from the exhaust system. It definitely sounded like a large exhaust leak.

I took it into a local muffler shop for a look see. They put it up on the rack and showed me the problem. The converter bracket mount actually tore from the converter creating a split seam allowing exhaust to escape. Converter needs replaced. They also showed me where the vibration occurs. Both converters are so close to the floor near the motor mount that under the slight amount of torque (either forward or reverse) they hit the floor. The design doesn't fit the G properly.

Overall, besides the slight vibration, I've been very happy with sound of the Ultimates, much better than the RTs. I'd buy them all over again. They have a 5 year warranty and I'm sure Adam @ Z1 Performance will take care of me. It's just a hassle to get this taken care of.

Hi Brian - we are going to have a new one sent Monday to you. Please get me some pictures so I can see what happened in advance and also so I can see the clearance issues you are describing on the G. The platforms of the 2 cars are the same, but who knows, maybe we need to make an adjustment for the G.

Please also send the damaged unit back to the shop address (on our website)

i have heard the rts and the crawfords. i think these are the best on the market right now as far as fit, quality and sound. i love that there is no raspiness.

btw adam, i bought mine used. my friend bought it from you guys earlier this year. does the warranty transfer to me or is the warranty void now? i have no paperwork for the sale. tia.

How does the overall loudness of the Utilimate Racing cats compare to the Crawfords and the RT's? And to the stock cats?

Somewhere between my old RTs and stock cats. Like I said for sound sake I wish I would of bought these first. The RTs were obnoxiously loud for my tastes. But I'm an old fart of 38.
