Smile New Intake System!!!

I found a intake system in ebay, I never heard of them before but sounds very convincing, this is what I saw in ebay:

You are bidding on a brand new sealed AEM Cold Air Intake for the all new 2003 Nissan 350Z part number 21-547.

ABOUT AEM
AEM-The Leader In Performance Technology Horsepower. It's how our reputation was built. In 1987, AEM opened its doors and quickly earned a reputation for its custom fabrication work and ability to develop the fastest vehicles at racetracks across the country. As the import performance market began to grow, our company's success in both of these areas ultimately led to AEM's production of products for the import performance arena-long before it was the popular thing to do.

WHY AEM
AEM Cold Air induction systems create MORE horsepower than EVERY intake system on the market. Only AEM induction systems feature CNC mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum intake pipes that are individually tuned in both length and diameter to maximize power in each application. Every AEM intake is powder coated and has TIG-welded fittings and brackets. For filtration, AEM utilizes its new lightweight urethane, four-layer cotton-gauze filter that features a redesigned air horn that makes an additional 1-3 HP on our Air Induction Systems. All AEM air induction systems are C.A.R.B. exempt or pending exemption (50 state legal) and come with complete installation hardware, comprehensive instructions, AEM decal and license plate frame.

FEATURES:
Air Induction Systems key features:

Outperform every intake system on the market
Only air induction systems on the market that utilize a complete hardware kit with soft mounts for a guaranteed perfect fit every time
Every intake system is C.A.R.B. exempt or pending exemption (50 state legal)
Available in blue, red and silver
NEW Exclusive one-piece AEM filter< eases installation and improves performance
Manufactured and assembled in the USA

Application: 2003 Nissan 350Z

Default AEM Cold air system

I couldn't locate the dyno for the Z, but here's one for the Altima. It looks interesting.

The intake for the 350Z is scheduled for development in R&D. Keep checking back in the future for more updates.

Thanks,
AEM GN

I was asked by my local dealer if I could let AEM prototype their cold-air intake on my Z about a month ago. However I declined because they wanted it for 2 weeks.
So they definitely were working on one or had plans for one as far back as that.

Hey Wadd3456,
I think that AEM is still in the R & D mode with the intake for the Z.
Did you make it to the Z show at Sutherlin Nissan today? I was not able to make it myself. I would like to meet up with other 350z owners. I might be without mine for awhile according to the result of my meeting with the Nissan Rep. on Tuesday.

I email them for more info.

This what they email me:

You will have to remove the stock intake pipe. This kit comes with all necessary hardware and instructions to install this system. There is nothing extra. You should gain about 10-12 horsepower maybe even more depending on other modifications. I can gaurantee you will love this system once you install it. You will instantly feel the added power. For more info just go to www.aempower.com. They have dyno charts and pics there. The 350Z kit is fairly new so you may not find too much on that particular car. Thanks for the inquiry. Mike

this is what I asked the seller:
Is this truly a cold air intake that picks up air from outside the engine bay, or like the JWT intake that picks up hot air from inside?

Thanks

and this is the reply:
This is an actual cold air intake that grabs cold air from under the car. This is a new system out by AEM and we have sold plenty already. thanks for the inquiry.

Guys,

Don't you think that our OEM system is pretty much a cold air system? Look at where the filter gets its air from. Right in front of the grill! It's almost like a Ram Air system. I don't know if any aftermarket intakes can better the stock one significantly at this point in time.

It's true, but they already have a system for the 3.5 altima and put 12+ rwhp, and is the same engine and OEM system that the 350Z. I only saying that is possible that they can achieve a truely ram air system. I agree to make sure that is 100% true what they selling, but I will keep an eye on this one.

Interesting; however, looking at the Altima 3.5 intake system, it's not as direct as the Z. Also, the Altima's intake system has baffles for sound reduction, thus restricting some air flow. The Z otoh, has a direct path to the filter, without baffles. Nonetheless, good HP gains for the Altima!
