I like my DC sports, I mean i LOVE EM. For under $300 how can i not. I know they dont make the same power as Crawford but i was able to install them myself on jackstands in 5 hours. Dont think i could of done the crawford install.

Crawford does make more power but im happy with my choice.

i think everyone will agree when i say, as long as your happy thats all that matters. i dont care if u have DC, Crawford or some home made pipe u glued together. all that matters is that you have a Z. in my book that makes u a member of my family

longer primaries (crawford) means more low end torque, so in theory the crawfords will add that needed low-midrange tq (probably moreso than DC) AND add that top end hp. IMO you get 3 times as much so its worth 3 times the money, I would spend the extra and get crawfords..........if i had a Z

also isn't DC also related to SSautochrome who sells the same headers on ebay for the same price?

its a comparison that really comes down to price....since one is half of the other...and that can be a big factor when your a consumer. if i were in the market and considering the crawfords i would also look at nismo and others in that price range. more hp = more money....most of the time

nismos i beleive would cost you more. also the crawford's show better gains than nismo. however the pros about nismo is a warranty item and easy install....(i think). assuming that just about every other header on this planet will slip easier into the engine bay of the Z, than Crawfords do. ill admit for 8am to 5pm it took me to install just the headers and one more hour to install their plenum and strut bar.

p.s. forgot to mention that i also skipped like two steps that would have pushed the install into the next day. i skipped the draining of the coolant, didnt really see the reason why i had to and i also skipped the bleeding of the clutch system. since we never disconnected the line we didnt need to bleed them. i really dont know why you have to disconnect the line. we didnt see any worries about not disconnected it. we had no trouble either with the install just VERY VERY slow and carefully.

Has anyone used a insulated wrap on their headers , to keep header heat from radiating in the engine compartment???

I went through this research just a couple of months ago. The rule of thumb is that you do *not* want to use insulating wrap on headers. It keeps the heat and moisture trapped in the metal of the header and dramatically increases the likelihood that you'll crack them. I even called DC about it, and the guys at DC said that if you wrap them you probably won't get more than 6-12 months out of the headers before they crack.

On the otherhand, having them coated by Jet-Hot was highly recommended by almost everyone I talked to. Jet-Hot coats the inside and outside, protecting the metal completely and they say it will actually increase their life. I have a set of stainless DC headers that I sent to Jet-Hot.

I've done the same. My stainless DC headers are ceramic coated as well. Pity, b/c they look so good polished, but in my case it's function before form.

when i said others in that price range i meant to include the alphaworks too...they are the newest headers on the market and claim huge gains. i think these will give good competition to nismo and crawford if what they claim is true!

i think their claims are about the same as crawford's. look at the dyno graph anyhow, it doesnt look right, but i could be wrong. someone buy them and dyno them!!!!!

btw its Autowerks (there may be an "e" after the "k" im not sure.

i cant say much about crawford, bc i have never had experience with them. However DC makes really good products. For that price, you cant go wrong. I dont buy borla products bc of their quality. BTW you get what you paid for.

so assuming your right that, you get what you pay for. wouldnt that make DC a brand not to buy when concidering the price of nismo, stillen, crawford, or any other header in that price range?

A header install is going to take time no matter which one you select. Yes, pick one that you can afford, but keep in mind that the Crawford headers will gain more power throughout the curve, which will yield a much bigger smile when you are done as well as set you up for better gains if you add cams or have head work done. This has been shown in the past that the Crawford headers work very well with the larger after market cams, especially in the low end where cams tend to hurt the power curve. There is a reason why the SCCA cars are running Crawford headers. They are the best ones out there for our car at this time. I suggest you read up on header design and if you do you will quickly realize why the Crawford headers are the ones to have.
