Default Question re headers: Crawford vs. DC

DC are far cheaper than Crawford. But are Crawford that much better than DC?

Crawford appear to be sculpted masterpieces -- and a lot longer -- but are the gains really there over other equal length headers?

Are the crawfords coated SS or coated mild steal?

For that price, I would go with any other header and go with a second mod.

You get what you pay for. There is no reason to pay for the high $ install of headers only to install cheap ones. Go with the Crawfords.

GO BORLA!!!!

if u want no power! my crawfords, they looked so beautiful that the only reason i installed them was the HP increase otherwise i would have had them put into a glass case.

their beauty is only matched by their power.

I have the DC sport headers and I am pleased with the results. Turbo magazine did an article on the DC sport headers and had good results. I am not sure about the crawford headers, but more research wouldn't hurt

DC headers are indeed the bang for the buck however it will not compare in power gain to crawford.

Making 1hp and 2tq is very understand and was sarcasim, that i know. However DC does make power. NOt as much as crawford but it does make power. I havent seen anyone do and independant dynos on the DC headers so i cant tell you how much it really ggained

I have the DC headers and I like them. I think the 1hp and 2tq gain is off. sure it's not like crawford but it's 1/3 the price and great quality.

September 2004 Turbo & High-Tech Performance magazine, page 42. Dc Sport header dyno test article. Car also has AEM CAI, Invida exhaust, Hyper ground kit and Unorthodox Racing pulleys.

Sorry I don't own a scanner and I could not access their web site to see if they by chance have the article and dyno plot online
http://www.turbomagazine.com

I've seen people quote this test on the Dc Sports header, spitting out the following quote in so many words. "The real gains were generated in the mid-range where the VQ35DE needs it most, with a gain of 9.1hp and 12.5hp". Which is true, but a simple look at the dyno plot reveals these numbers only occur for a brief moment in the power band, a whole 500rpms worth.

Also mentioned in the text it says the peak values for the header are, +1.1hp and 5.9ft lbs. To be fair, I'll make a attempt to translate the dyno plot from a few rpm level's.

2500rpms
hp+1
tq+6

3500rpms
hp+3
tq+8

3750rpms (mid range blip described in text)
hp+9.3hp
tq+12.5

4500rpms
hp+2
tq+5

5500rpms
hp+2
tq+2

6000rpms
hp+2
tq+2

6300rpms to redline
hp+0
tq+0

In terms of cost, horse power, and installation difficulty, I would said either the DC headers or Strup Headers are the way to go.

We have installed every header there is on the market now for the 350z/G35.

The Crawford headers are nice in concept but don't leave much room for installation. They are proned to get banged up during installation.

The DC headers and Strup headers for the money make power where it's needed on the VQ motor mid to high rpm range. The 350z kind of dies off on the top end with either of those headers it makes up the power and pulls harder to redline.

Skrill please PM me if you are interested in DC or Strup headers we have them in stock.

Of all the shops that have installed them, and even your "Average Joe" in their own garage... they admit that while they are hard... they are indefinately worth the price and sweat. If performed according to directions, provided for you on the Crawford site... they will slide RIGHT in! Nothing touches them in terms of performance, and they remain the most premiere available for the Z.

Except no immitations...

And you can get DCs in stainless steel so they don't RUST.

im more intrested to see what real people has to say about DC headers. Its already established that crawford headers are the best but there is no reason not to tell the truth about DC headers.

I want some real personal experience or dyno instead of what mags have to say.
