That's not necessarily true. Many states have gone to just OBD testing for OBD II and newer vehicles. This means that all they do during an emissions test is plug their computer into your cars OBD computer to see if you're throwing any codes. Since the test pipes don't make a Z throw a code, passing the test wouldn't be a problem...now if they did a visual under car inspection that could be another story...but I've never seen them do that here in IL.

Why don't you come down... you and Doug can take his out. You can hear the Borla with his cats.

I know, I rarely have free time to get out. It's been on my mind ever since I first heard about the local meets but being able to get to one has been a chore. I absolutely wanna come hang out with you guys! Everybody sounds really cool and you in particular have been very welcoming. My music schedule and work schedule are starting to open up in the next few weeks and I would love to come check out the shop and see whats crackin. I wish I would have been patient enough to wait and bring my Z down to Crawford so we could have met under some modding terms but I got overzealous But it seems lately I have been bitten by the mod bug so more opportunities are right around the corner. I'll swing by soon bro.

Sorry to bring a post back from the dead, but since pretty much everyone who's posted so far owns this exhaust, I'd thought I'd ask my question here. The Borla True Dual is next on my shopping list, but like everything else, I'm trying to do my homework first. I like the weight savings and power gains. One thing that gets me is that it looks like it has only one muffler. Are there two chambers inside this single muffler, or just one? I've emailed Borla my question, but I think it'll be awhile before I hear back from them. I figured you guys would respond within an hour! Also, is anyone who's had the exhaust on for 2 or more years having any problems?

Thanks in advance!

And yes, I did use the search function first... thats how I found this thread!

Yea since everybody has this exhaust on this thread.. Ill like to post a question as well... Can somebody tell me just exactly how much power gain is expected from the borla TD exhaust and how is the butt dyno for this exhaust??? Also if the same gains should be expected if i was to get the borla td for the g35 coupe.. THank You in advanced..

I'm not sure how many chambers are in the muffler but the pipes cross inside of there.. meaning, if you were to hypothetically drop a ping pong ball out of the left bank of cylinders, it would come out the right side of the exhaust..

I've had my Borla for about a year now.. at about 1000-1500 miles it gets louder and I think I felt a little more power.. about 2 months ago, it started to rub against something (which is a common problem with this exhaust) .. dunno what.. It's very minor though.. I'm having headers and test pipes done in 2 weeks so I'll have it checked out as well..

I've been happy with my Borla.. It sounds really great I still find myself turning the radio down to listen to it.. The only part I hate is that visually, it's a boring exhaust .. very plain looking.. just like stock..

I loved mine until the damn thing cracked at the H-pipe section (on both pipes!). Keep your receipt dude! I've been bugging Borla for the past two months to try and just tell me how much it would cost to buy the two pipes at the immediate cat-back section (both 2 front pipes that connect together with the H section)

About 6-8 rwhp! The borla sounds so much better with a pair of test pipes and Headers!

I just installed my Borla TD exhaust with a set of Borla Headers and a JWT Pop Charger yesterday. I was going to do test pipes but they were out of stock and I couldn't wait anymore to get this stuff on. The system sounds amazing. The sound that comes from the engine went from a purring kitten to a growling lion. The air intake and headers make a big difference. The growl from the engine at 5K RPM's is just amazing... you just hear the air getting sucked in. I also find myself turning my radio down to hear the roar. The rumble at idle is so different. My car is not quite any longer.

Nice. Now just wait until you get a few hundred miles under your belt. It will sound even better.

I realize this is the Borla TD fan club.....can some of you tell me:

1.)Which systems did you look at while shopping?

2.)What made you finally decide on the Borla system?

I have heard great things about the system.....the price seems right.....how is the weight savings over stock?? Other comment would be appreciated!

I chose Borla because I knew it had a great sound. But most of all the it was the best priced for being a tru dual. I looked at the HKS and Stillen systems... mind you I get this stuff wholesale because I'm a MotorSports shop and I still chose Borla. I also did the Borla Headers and JWT pop charger at the same time. Install took all day but worth it... it's sounds great. I'm guessing its probably a 20lb savings over stock... but don't quote me on that. I didn't weigh it.

For me it was inbetween the Borla, Injen straight tip and the Nismo. I liked the TQ and the brand consistency of the Nismo but it was too expensive for me. The Injen was next up because of the deep aggressive tone that it created but I didn't like the way it looked. The Borla was priced right, weighed less , showed the best HP gains in the SportZ exhaust shootout and looks just a little better than stock(which I think is a plus). Also I got a great deal on it.

MRBADER, BENJ-AMG........thanks for the feedback! I will definitely check out the SprortZ exhaust shootout. I have been doing some web shopping, and Borla looks very attractive......Borla keeps coming up in my selection because of its tru dual setup, and price....Borla "word of mouth" is great too(makes my decision easy)!!

Thanks again for the comments!

Can someone give me feedback on the rubbing? What is the exhaust rubbing against and where? Does this cause damage or chaffing? I've heard about this problem with Borla exhaust but not in detail. Thanks everyone!

Mine didn't rub at all... it's kind of close... but it doesn't make any noise except for the roar from the engine breathing in all that new air that the dual exhaust is exhailing.
