Default HKS Racing Suction Intake kit for 350Z

Has anyone heard about HKS Racing Suction Intake kit for 350Z? I did not know HKS makes intake kits for 350z.

I was gonna put Injen CAI on my 350z but i'm too worried about having water ingestion problems
What is the difference between normal CAI's(injen, aem) and HKS racing suction intake kits? They look so wierd n different from other CAI's. I couldn't find much information on HKS intake kits for 350z(hp gains...etc). One thing I heard about HKS intake from my friend is that their filters have bad quality(pretty much a piece of sponge) Would i run into water ingestion problems with this HKS intake kit?

mynismo.com sells the JWT popcharger for $120.00, can't beat that price not to mention gains w/ an intake will be minimal anyway. Plus it sounds cool

don't spend that much money on an air filter .... I am having trouble parting with $100 for a JWT, I cannot imagine $300+ for one ....

Dont waste $300 on something that will likely not provide any better gains than the popcharger for $200 less. Got mine for $120 shipped and love it.

I have never had any water ingestion problems. I have driven the car in the rain and thru a few deep puddles without problems. If you drive into a foot or more of water, you will have problems.
The HKS Suction kit is $425!! Thats a lot for just a CAI!
Get a JWT Popcharger and a Kinetix or Crawford plenum instead.
No water ingestion to worry about and you will get more hp.

Those HKS filters are rubbish as well, they dont filter nothing. Saw a test on one of the other boards a couple of years back and the HKS foam filters were the worst of any brand.

They're racing filters. Its meant to keep leaves and sticks out.

aww .... cmon now .. that was a cheap one

I know I have spent a lot of cash on this .... but the filter is something that I don't really see adding much to the mix for me ... plus the stock intake looks fine in there for shows... I don't need a shiny chrome pipe to look nice

Very true, but these couldnt keep much dirt out, 'racing filters' or not, they are just an air filter when all is said and done.

That's weird HKS racing suction was not out at the time yet. Another thing is, foam filter usually filter the dirt better than oil type like K&N. However, oil type generallyl has better flow. That's why Apex'i used dual layer to enhanced the filtration ability.(Apex'i is oil type also)

During 1999 a Japanese magazine test all intake in Japan at the time, the test consider both airflow and filtration ability of the intake. Overall HKS acutally came on top, Greddy second, and Apes't is 3rd, K&N was actually fourth. Forgot about 5 and 6, Blitz was like 7.

And the racing suction kit doesn't just come with the filter, it cames with pipe also, and with the Name HKS, that's why it's more expensive.

These kits use the same filter that HKS has been making for years. Check this out.

OMG ... that NAME HKS .. who wants my credit card number .. its a MUST HAVE

Who cares who makes it ... the materials are not even exotic or expensive .... its a freakin' filter with a chrome tube that will not aid in $300 worth of performance

HKS racing suction is short ram, so you won't have water problem like CAI.

I doubt it would even bring a tube. You could make one of these kits by just buying an adaptor off ebay and buying the "all mighty" HKS filter alone. Save yourself 200 bux and either make one, or buy a popcharger.

I had an HKS filter exactly like this from an RX-7. Built a converter out of fiberglass and it's nice. It has good sound, I haven't been able to hear a popcharger so I can't compare, bu I like the dound of the HKS. You don't really notice the noise until like 4 grand or so.

If you think $425 is expensive, what about the Gruppe-M intake that sells for $625?
