Default Injen intake sounds like rice(???)

Just got off the phone with an old buddy of mine and he was going off about how the Injen intake made his Sentra Spec V sound 'ricey'. He's switching back to his old intake (JWT?) Basically his review was a big two thumbs down. Him and I are wondering what Z owners with Injen intake have to say about theirs?

i guess ricey just depends on what numbers you throw down and how many HP-adding stickers, huge ugly fenders, and shopping-cart-handle wings you've got...

The injen CIA is not "Ricey" at all. Works great and the only thing you can hear is a slight air sucking sound when you hit the gas.

Thats the dumbest thing I have heard-all 4 cyclinders with big cone filters have the same damn sound, some louder than others. My old AEM sounded just like my pop-charger except the sound was muffled by the wheel well and distance-the pop-charger is louder cuz its closer to you. An intake is an intake, if you dont like the sucking air sound then dont buy one.

I just put on my Injen CAI last weekend and I can barley even hear the thing. The only time I know it's there is at WOT. Also, it seems like the intake did very little for the power of the car. The Z now feels like it has a little more torque but that is about all. All I currently have done is the CAI and Nismo Exhaust. In answer to your question it is deffinatly not "ricey" at all.

If your worried about the sound that the intake makes, Then maybe you should stay with the stock one.

if "ricey sound" is your problem, I doubt the intake will change much of anything...

you need to change the engine, not the intake, lol

Yep, as for your friend...maybe he should look at another car. Its probably not the intake that sounds ricey, but the VVT kicking in that sounds ricey (a sound that I actually LOVE).

Ricey? Not at all, to me. I love the sound of mine. Put her up to 4500-5000+RPMs and she screams like crazy. Looks good too!!!

Is there a difference in sound/performance between an Injen CAI and a pop charger?

There exhaust definately sounds ricy. I've heard several cars with their dual exhuast. Not sure about the intake.

LOL, dumbest opinion Ive read...I have the Injen and I dont think it sounds "japanese" enough. It is very deep, and the pitch never gets high enough for my tastes...but to each his own. Have you actually heard a Z with the Injen in person?

A buddy of mine had the injen intake before he totalled his z. It definitely sounded good, but I wanted to know if the JWT pop charger sounded better, similar, or muffled.

I definitely like the sound and I would love a little more pitch, and I'm trying to figure out which ones will give me that. I have a cat back exhaust, next I'm hooking up some crawford hi-flow cats and plenum. THEN, the CAI, but still haven't figure out which.

Give me some deep, classy sound. JWT Pop charger or Injen CAI?

Their exhaust definitely sounds ricey? What is ricey to you? I bet you never heard an injen in your life... I've had people with M3s tell me my car sounds better then theirs. The sound is deep and smooth all the way to redline. Sounds amazing... don't know how anyone can hear ricey.

It's not even that lound. My GF didn't even notice I changed exhaust.

Only thing that I don't like about the Injen is replacing the filter....since it's on the behind the grill, hard to clean or change...
that's why I'm planning to make it shorter or do something else....
when it hits over 3000~4000 rpm.......man~ I love that screaming sound!! I can really feel it's sucking the fresh air!!
