The XERD longtubes are really the only longtubes I can find any information or even owner experiences with. Where are the others?
XERD owners, is there any rasp with the longtubes, like what people can get with non-resonated test pipes?
Also, what kind of increase in sound did you experience adding the XERD headers?

And I'll add that 350EVO currently uses the XERD headers, so they've found something lacking with them or else they would not embarked on a expensive R&D project to make their own headers.
You can run a seach and find EVO's post on their announcement for their headers, they look really promising.

I installed them with stock exhaust. It has definitly more Power you can fell it very much. But the Sound is bad. Strong rasp from 2000-4000rpm sounds like a rattlesnake. Without the raspiness it would sound sweet. Like racingcar, very metallic and voluminous.
The problem is you can´t drive it quietly. The smallest gasp on the Gas makes al loud noise.
Sorry, but i only would use them if driving my Z on Racetracks.

Verpeiler,
I had the same setup that you had and the rasp was annoying. Installed Injen true dual exhaust and to my ears delight , NO MORE RASP.
Powertrip and I have the same exhaust setup and I am very pleased with performance. My opinion Xerd headers and Injen exhaust are a good combo.

I am the only XERD dealer allowed to sell to the Z forums now so if you need them, I have them still!
I have heard from some they make some rasp but it all depends on the exhaust you are using.

So, XERD longtubes add rasp to the stock exhaust and the rasp can be eliminated or significantly reduced with some aftermarket exhausts.... I get that right ?
Also, the gains the XERDs give are all in the upper RPMs and all to the horsepower. No gains in low RPM or torque production. That right?
Since I am looking to keep the stock exhaust rear section and/or keep noise of the exhaust to a minimum and that I am looking to increase low RPM and torque output, these dont sound anything like what I am looking for.
Just cant see spending $1200'ish on Crawfords and another $350'ish on resonated test pipes ($1500-$1600) when a good longtube header in the $700-$800 range will do everything I want. No, I am not worried about SMOG, since this is an 04 car it wont have to be SMOG'ed till 2009. Five years of fun and finding someone to fudge the cars visual inspection. It had better pass the sniffer though, have to be atleast a little enviromentally correct.
