Just 2 Gaijin working in Japan,

Got my production date for my Fairlady, 29 December

Way cool to see members from Japan on here.

My son is talking about studying in Japan in a year or so. I may need to make a friend or two out of the Japanesse members!

What will he be studying there? Does he know where he wants to go? I'm assuming this is sorta like the exchange student program kinda deal.... in college?

SLVR Z,

He is looking for the cultural/language experience of studing in Japan. At this point, I don't know what type of program he would participate in. He is a soph at Cal/Berkeley.

He took an interest in Japanesse language from a friend in HS he ran cross country with. To pass the time while running, the friend started teaching my son Japanesse; that lead to flash cards, auditing classes at Cal, etc.

Appreciate the interest.

Tell him to go to ICU (International Christian University) or Waseda. I think those two are the popular university for exchange students to go to. Juinor year is the perfect timeing to study abroad.

Default Rat and Silvr..

Wow... small world...

I went to ICU.. for Japanese studies. Best thing I ever did combined with some very memorable experiences. Also, ICU has the best looking campus in Japan, great student body, an excellent teaching staff, and is highly rated for Liberal Arts for those Japanese studying there. Highly selective for Japanese to get into. Overall... I would definetly recommend your son going to Japan. Great experience, good to put on the resume, and if he really becomes proficient in Japanese, he will have a lot of doors opened to him in the future -- particularly if he combines this with an MBA in the US.

Waseda is also an excellent choice -- together with Sophia as a number 2 backup.

Default rodmanj...

Great to see another gaijin here ordering the Z...

What model and options did you order ?

Also... am interested in when (date) you ordered it.

Note my delivery date. Oh well -- 3 months and counting... hate winter anyway for driving.

gaijin = Foreigner

But it has an implication that gaijin is an American (especially a blonde). *lol*

Fairlady Z in Japan

I ordered My Fairlady on September 7, 2002,
and I only ordered the "Z" model with automatic transmission,
I had the Aero Package put on, and the Expensive mats.
"I don't know why they were so Expensive". I went with the 17
inch tires "My girl Friend said they looked better" at a total
of 3,360,000 Yen. I did get a break on the Japanese Consumer Tax because I have "SOFA" status here. The dealer called last week and told me the production date was December 29, but as this falls right in the middle of Japaneses New year. Most offices needed to get my plates will be closed unit the 6 of January,
what luck. I don't think I can get plates for it until the 7 of January.

I'm a huge James Clavell fan, (I've read Shogun at LEAST 10 times), and I really hope I can get over to Japan someday. Hong Kong as well, actually...
