Default Will the Dealership void my warrenty because of a Short Shifter?

I have a 03'(built 02) with 8000+ miles and with the first tranny. Second gear is knotchy and third gear will grind all the time in cold weather when I shift faster than normal. One of my friends told me that they might void my warrenty because of the short shifter. But I was hoping that they will just drive the car and say, "yup we got another 03' that needs THE NEW trans." and not even try to blame it on the Short shifter. What should I do?

change it back to stock before you take it to the dealer.

Agreed. Do not give them an "out" to replacing the transmission....

Should I at least try with one dealer? Then return it back to stock and go to another dealer if they void my warrenty? Or is it once they deny the warrenty service, all the dealerships will know? The reason I want to at least try is because I don't want to drive to my mechanic and pay him $75 each time to install a shifter.

Bump for more comments or suggestions!

I would call and ask. Dont give them any of your info. Either way It would be worth the 75 dollars to be sure you dont have to pay thousands.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to call and ask them. Should I call Nissan North America or the Dealership?

Another question: Has anybody replaced their transmission with a short shifter installed? I've read that many people from modded to heavily modded has gotten transmission replacements without taking out mods.

The tranny issue was caused by a defect. The way the dealer explained it to me , was that as long as the mod didnt cause the damage it will be taken care of under warranty. My tech told me he has a customer with a greddy TT that gets parts replaced under warranty as long as the tt set up didnt cause it..

Sort of late but havent been to the forums in a while.

I have the Rogue short shifter in the car and had the tranny replaced. It really has nothing to do with the tranny defect. Don't even mention it at the dealer and I bet they won't even notice.

Go, and if anything, take it out and go to another dealer.
